Alright, I put 4 hogs in Hang em High, and also about 100 building blocks. I filled in the main trench in the middle of the level, so you can drive right across, and then there's flat space above the 'tombstones' on both sides of the map, and ramps to get up there. There's also a few more ramps to get onto the sides of the level. So now there's plenty of room to drive your hog just about wherever you want! You can also walk underneath all the building blocks, and there are several ways of getting in and out from under there. The hogs are also driveable underneath the blocks, but I don't recommend it, I did everything I could to keep the hogs from going down there.

Also, by some miracle, none of the blocks disappear.

One sidenote- the actual texture of the building blocks isn't white or dark brown like in the picture. They are all a pinkish/light brownish color.

Please let me know of any bugs and any suggestions on ways to make this mod better. I would like to change the texture of the blocks to match the exact same texture of the regular floor, but I don't know wtf i'm doing when it comes to skinning and such. I don't even have photoshop. I could also add some weapon mods, but I'm not sure how hard it is to import weapons from other levels. If you wanna do any of this stuff yourself, you're more than welcome to.

Yea, it took quite a while to get all the blocks how i wanted them, but I like how it turned out. I haven't tried yet, but it should make for an interesting ctf match. I think this also helps balance the weapons in a map where the pistol and sniper rifle own. Now weapons like the assault rifle and plasma rifle should be more useful for close range fights and shooting at warthogs.

Awesome work JoePo. Where'd the sniper go? The blocks probably don't disappear since HH is a smaller board than the void or BG or BA and the RAM can support them.

I moved the rocket launcher to the top because it would have been way to easy to get to if I didn't. Then I didn't want the sniper and the rocket launcher to be right next to each other, so I hid the sniper rifle underneath the blocks in the trench. It gives you a reason to go under there.

ah. i didn't go under there. yeah, on my mods, i always swap the locations of the RL and sniper. the RL on that perch is better worth the risk than the sniper.

There are some things that I don't like about this map mod.

1. It makes you feel(at least myself), claustrophobic. Espicially when you are in the trench.

2. When I first played the map, I felt like it was really hard to get around. And hard to tell one type of textures from the other.

3. I really don't think that many ramps are necessary. Couldn't just a couple be sufficient?

4. You really don't need 4 cars. 2 is enough. 4 is too much.

hey, thanks for the suggestions. If I update this I'll probably block off the trench completely, it is pretty useless, but I wouldn't say it makes me claustrophobic.

about getting rid of ramps...... I know there's lots of ramps, but I like it that way. It gives the warthog driver a lot of options on which way to go, and they're all kinda necessary to get on the upper levels. Does anyone else think I should get rid of some ramps? And which ones do you think should go?

2 warthogs probably is enough. I wanna test it a little and see if having less hogs would reduce the lag a little. Not that the lag was horrible, but it was noticable for me on 3-4 players.

and teleporters. Not a bad idea, but i can't say I like teleporters myself. I'll consider it though.

And i have to admit that this mod wasn't actually my idea. I kinda mighta possibly probably stole it from someone on this site. I think someone posted the idea about a month or two ago, but I don't remember who it was. But much thanks to that guy! And I doubt its good enough to win the contest, I was surprised that it even got a sticky. I'm very glad everyone likes it though.

actually, I guess I shouldn't sell myself short. I was camping for the weekend so I had no clue how popular this mod really was. Front page of halo-scene.com... NICE!

I free copy of halo2 would be awesome too cuz I'm probably one of the few that haven't pre-ordered it yet.

ye ai realy enjoyed this mod so i had to post it up at HS... i personaly like the trench openings cuz i like to get a hog down there and shoot peaple lol. i love this mod just the way it is... no lag no bugs...

Here's a few suggestions that I think would kick ass:
-make it night time and add turrets like the other heh mod (maybe even some 1/4, 1/2, or 1/3 power rocket launching turrets, or turrrets that launch slightly faster plasma grenades that do 1/2 damage)
-replace the warthogs with ghosts and give them bright headlights
-keep the trench and put some underpowered rocket launchers in there
-if you don't want to change weapons then a bunch of frag grenades in the trench would be also be cool.

I will consider making a night version of this mod, because flashlights/nightvision/warthog headlights would look pretty cool with it. I wouldn't want to use ghosts though, cuz i don't think flashlights/nightvision would work if i did. I haven't played the heh mod that has turrets, I'll have to check that out. And I guess I'll keep the trench openings, but I always get my warthog half stuck in the hole and they're hard to get out. And since it is possible to get warthogs stuck, I'm trashing the idea of only having two hogs in the level, 4 is perfect, this way you still have plenty if you lose one.

here is the other brilliant mod, a lot of weapon changes you may or may not want to implement, plus spiderman physics (i usually disable this in hce), but the turrets and nightime are there (following regular mod-requesting/using etiquette.. yada yada..). I just think the warthogs are too big, is there a way to make a 2 man smaller vehicle (2nd seat a turret) with warthog physics? Add a bright headlight and it would be insane! maybe even just using the star wars stap mod http://files.halomods.com/viewtopic.php?t=6334 with warthog pysics!!! is that possible???

i say just make the trench openings either bigger or smaller.... the should be their tho... but if u do make it smaller put a wart hog down there so u can use it to shoot from under trench.. get a hog under there and try it.

I'm also trying to put together a full 13 maps where you play as covenants and with covie vehicles, suggestions anyone?
What about a modified version of Prisoner? Close up each level with blocks and it will almost have a maw-like feel to it. The only way to get to each level would be up the ramps/ladders originally there. Perhaps a slow ghost on each level. Better yet, import the covey turret but give it the physics of the scorpion. Then it would be like a mini tank that could easily move up the ramps. Move spawn points and flags so that red is on the top floor and blue is on the bottom. I dunno...I just always saw potential to that level.
