So you're saying the nightvision will work even if there are ghosts, as long as there aren't more than 4 players? I don't know why that would be true, i've never gotten nightvision to work with ghosts no matter how many players there are. I guess I'll just have to download it and check it out myself.

OK the nightvision works on this mod but not with ghosts 4 player limit and no infinate grenades. However what i cannot work out is why in my half finished bloodgulch mod which has ghosts and hogs it works??????
I mean i could be wrong but will recheck it to be sure. let you guys know asap ok

This is SWEET! Love the sniper rifle sound. Sample from the Preditor's shoulder cannon? Awesome! The background sounds are cool too.

Excellent work MrMurder, hats off! :D

I was just wondering if anyone was able to open this mod with sparkedit. When I try to I get an error that says "seek failed on an unnamed file" and it won't open. I tried in sparkedit 2.5, 3.01, and 3.02. I wanted to use sparkedit to compress this map so it will always be my default sidewinder map when I run my modded version of halo. I haven't had any problems doing this to any of the other mods I've tried.

Anyways this is a great mod, the flashlights/nightvision are sweet on this because the level is just so damn dark! And the nightvision does work on default because there aren't any ghosts in the level anyway.

Hey jopo firstly thanks for takin time to post feedback always good to hear what people think about mod good or bad.
The map will not open in sparkedit because the nighttime effect uses up the flamethrowers bitmap file as referance to make the effect work so each time you try to open it it wont find that file and crashes.
If theres something in particular you want to use email me and i will be happy to either send you the map without the nighttime or help with a mod your doing ok.
So what was good and bad about the map i need to know thanks for your time.

JoePo - I have run into the same problem with not being able to open certain maps using Sparkedit. However, if you can download HaloMapItemEditor (I believe it can be found in the utilities part of this site) you can use this the same as Sparkedit to simply open and then compress maps. Every single map I've not been able to compress using Sparkedit has been compressible using HaloMapItemEditor 1.2.

Mr. Murder - This is by far the best mod in terms of quality and likely time put into making it. I love the sound quality especially in the added sound effects. I basically like everything about your mod except how dark it is. I would appreciate greatly if you would make a variation of this mod but with about 1/2 the darkness. Also, was there anything you did differently to make the nightvision on the sniper work. I know about the ghost removal but I am curious to know if you, or anyone else you know, could post some type of tutorial on lighting. Overall, excellent mod and great work.

Yeah, it's too dark for me to play. A bright version would be fun.

Thanks barb01, I'll download that now, I didn't know there was any other app that could compress maps.

And yea, this map might just be a little too dark. I do like it, but sidewinder is just too huge, so its incredibly hard to find someone in the dark unless your playing with 10+ people, or if your doing the gametype you suggested (which i haven't gotten the chance to try yet).

I think this effect might be better used in levels such as hang em high, because it's smaller and nightvision/flashlights would still be useful.

Thanks for all the feedback will have a lighter version out to you guys soon.
The compression question still remains a problem as i tried halomapitem editor which compressed the map butt when you try to play it it gives a dirty disc error anybody else have any luck at all getting a compressed nightwinder working if so let me know which program ok thanks for your time.

Mr. Murder - I have not had the dirty disk error with your newest version. I use HaloMapEditor as well and it has worked for me (but has not worked with other mods). Who knows but maybe there is variation in being able to play certain compressed maps with different Xbox versions. If anyone else knows of another program to compress maps other than Sparkedit and HaloMapEditor, please let us know. I don't want to be dirty anymore.

Also, I look forward to a "lighter" version as my friends complain too much in the dark.

Yeah making the zoom sounds back to normal would be great! Maybe change the sounds back to normal too so there's no crackling.
Here is a guide to compress maps:
