AC's Conversions Map Pack

Desc:
A collection of Xbox Single Player and HaloCE conversions to Xbox Halo Multiplayer supporting all game types.

Credits:
We all worked very hard together to get the maps supporting all game types and with all kinks worked out. Thanks to everyone for your patience while we got this Pack to the best that it could be. Now run HMPi and enjoy!

Maps created by the original modders and listed in the map menu.

This pack is, to put it in one word, huge! Weighing in at just over 370MB!

To spare my bandwidth on angrycamel.com, I am using a torrent once again, since it was wildly successful with the NMP2 and CXE release. I hope everyone remembers how to use them, if not visit http://www.bittorent.com for a brief refresher. For those who are early on in the torrent seeding process it may be a little slower as the torrent gets off the ground but please be patient as it is imperative for the success of the torrent that everyone keep the torrent window open so that the file can be shared with everyone else who wants to get it. After installing the full pack onto your xbox, then run these patches for game demos link support. First run patch 1 then patch 2. (Default configuration of the patch requires NMP2 to be installed, if not then you must mod the ini files to your specific settings)

Download speeds reported from the torrent are allready over 170k per second. Most are getting the 370MB package in less than an hour!

UPDATE (10-08-04): Added both CE maps back inot this MapPack to fill in the space. Hopefully in the future there will be enough CE conversions to make an entire MapPack out of them but as of now there is not.

Some may disagree with me doing this, but I believe it is better to release something that is complete before Halo 2 is out.

UPDATE (9-25-04): Removed both CE maps to be relocated to a CE -> Xbox specific MapPack.
Please participate by posting/testing new CE conversions in that thread as they become available.

The Goal
My goal for this MapPack is to get every conversion compressing accurately and able to be played on system link with every game type possible supported. This may be a tall task but I believe if each of us that are capable to make these types of changes and fixes picks a map to oversee then it can happen quite quickly.

This conversion MapPack is to be used with HMPi (Halo Map Pack Installer) and installed effortlessly, just like NMP and CXE. All xbe big cache patching and build number stuff is handled automatically by HMPi, so there is no reason to work on any of that. Just the maps. :)

Please pick a map that you are willing to work on in the next couple days and post your choice in this thread. Once you have chosen yours, then it will be your responsability to get testing done as quickly as possible. Lets try not to have too many people working on any one map, as that can cause versioning problems when fixing stuff.

Things to answer when testing:
Does every game type will load with default game settings?
Does every game type will load with custom game settings?
Is the map compressable?
Is the map system linkable?
Is the map laggy on system link? If so, with how many players?

If you are the designer of one of these maps then are you available to do some work on them if needed? If so, can you post in here as well?

      • - human weapons: flags wont spawn in
        - pistols: map freezes on load
        - snipers: you will play with only rocketlaunchers, and instead of the flag a rocketlauncher spawns in
        - no sniping: works fine
        - rockets: you will with FRG. and instead of the flag a FRG spawns in
        - rifles: flag wont spawn in, but in the place where the flag should be is a needler.
        - plasma weapons: flag wont spawn in, but in the place where the flag should be is a plasma grenade
        - shotguns: you will play with flamethrowers, and instead of the flag, a flamethrower spawns in. (BTW the environment can be set on fire, realy cool)
        - short range: a flamethrower spawns in stead of the flag, but there are shotties and pistols in the map also
        - normal: works fine

      • makes it freeze on load

Sounds good. Halo mp compressed for me using hht 4. I also converted it to pal before doing that (as i use that mainly.)

and yes the CXE dev forum got shut down and probly wont be back up. There was some problem from the Florida storms.

I'm working on a mod for a sp --> mp map concersion (outdoor aotcr by spammy)

Dunno if ya need those to (maybe if you dont have 13 conversions)

i can make Halo MP compressable, but im not sure about system link. i have a 343 guilty spark map ready for release, but it doesnt work on system link and im trying to figure out why (although it does compress). I'm also thinging about a remake of the library, it looked like crap with the shaders i used.

And as an added bonus, the reactor room is almost finished, it compresses, but i have not tried system link yet.

absolutely amazing, TSF. Looking forward to the updates. With the two new ones you mentioned that will be 12 maps! One more for a complete MapPack!

Just so everyone knows... this MapPack is up for debate by anyone. If you want to see something changed... then change it and upload the ppf. I will not be rushing this since we need 13 maps anyways, so feel free to make suggestions and updates. The other thing is that the reason I want to make this is for online play. So taht makes me want to wait till all of them are syslinkable.
