i wonder what would happen if we took a compressed multi player map like ww3.5 and replaced a single player map? Then renamed campaign with something else like Map Set One and make multiplayer Map Set 2. It it worked we coould double the amount of maps. If its possible we could swap the screen in multiplayer for the screen in campaign so when u go to campaign it looks just like the multi player (co op, system link, multiplayer). That would be cool. WOnder if it would work.

Hey, what happened to the voting, there were 11 votes for my starwars mod. Now theres 2. but I cant vote now. It says Ive already voted. So the votes restarted and now I cant vote for it at all. Or all the people that lked it before. What happened to the voting. This is really jacked up.

Yikes i hope i didn't muck it up... i deleted some entries... nightwinder and plateau and foxfire but didn't touch anything else... if we add a lot more mapss over the next couple of days we may have to restart the vote anywways lots of revoultionary maps and some people may want to vote for those.

??? What's the Difference

Post by Embrodak »

How is this any Different that NMP??

All it seems to be is a NMP with different mod's.

I thought that was the point of the NMP Project

SO this could be NMP ver 1.2,

13 Different Mod's could be ver 1.3.

That way all you have to do is create different Disk's to play, or have 5 different NMP's loaded.

Maybe I'm just a confused old man, but what is the difference?

I think I see what happened, when u added inmate to the voting chart. It was put in the same location that my starfox mod was in and itlike somehow swapped all of my starfox votes to the inmate mod. So if we could restart the voting, or try to fix these technical difficulties. That would be great thanx.

these are fan voted maps, the NMP is set up to bring us brand new maps specifically built for NMP, Vengeance is the first real "new map project" man that they've done together, it looks and feels like it could have been lined up next to the original maps and been well accepted, therein lies the difference.

the multiple perilous plunges of multiple map packs

Post by thescottishguy »

I hate to be a killjoy but i have to voice a concern, having 101 different mappacks sounds great until you realise that it will cause huge problems for online play, here's what i recommend:

structured series

~NMP these guys are doing great, they will continue to do great, vengeance seems like the first in a long line of many kickassbrand new maps

~Halomods CXE: this is a great idea, however it might be worth making sure that it stays so solid version numbers and keeps organised, it needs serious testing before release candidates for each version go out, If a release goes out for version 1 and it's not working it's gonna be a pain to line everyone up and have them go to 1.1, this needs someone (has to be 1 main person i think, supported by a team for sure but needs 1 person at the helm) to keep it all in line

I think there is room for maybe one or two other map packs, but if it gets spread too thin we will end up with 2 or 3 guys playing with each map pack and no one to play with, If the map packs stay strong they'll be better for everyone, I could easily envision another map pack:

~Halo SPMP: single player to multiplayer a map pack entirely made up of SP-MP mods, how rad would that be?

I think that the halomods CXE is a great idea because it aligns all the great mods out there for use online, but i think it also needs to be set up right, maybe set to a roughly bi-monthly release, (obviously not set in stone) where every couple of months the best 13 mods get packed together and run online in a kai arena

anyway, that's just my 2cents, I'd be more than willing to get stuck in and put in the time to help organize and do the ui for any/all of these, It's liable to be a gargantuan task though, just ask UM, my basic idea would be to have one guy pulling it together and building the UI, and have the modders get their maps ready (most of them are already) and take it from there.

I didn't expect CXE to come out with more... but I agree, they should be spread apart. I'm looking to make a Counter-Strike TO Halo map pack, but that will be in a long time for I'm still on my first map.

I understand that, but couldn't their be a fan voted NMP?

Again call it NMP - Fan ver 1.0, etc.

You'd have to consult the NMP-creators about that... we have no affiliation with them. We just love them :D

come on

Post by junit0524 »

not to sound like a jerk lol but who cares you guys, were not running business' were simply making halo more fun. Enough with the orginizations and asking for permission crap. Lets just focus on the main point, making halo as good as possible before the sequal.

i understand that point but if the reason i posted the above was that you can play all the mods and have a kickass time no problem, but the idea of this map pack was to make some of the best mods easily playable online, plenty of people are working on making halo as good as possible, I reckon they're doing a damn fine job, now for my personal contribution to the scene i wanna try and make the best mods available easily in a solid and easily compatible map pack so that you don't join a kai or xbconnect room and have people messing around for ten minutes getting the right ppf's and patching and transferring to cache etc... If they're running the map pack they won't be able to join a game that they don't have the mod for, If you play over tunneling software with mods you'll know that this is a pretty big issue

I say we leave all NMP's maps out of our little map-pack, because WHY HAVE 2 PACKS WITH THE SAME MAPS?! It's retarded! If you want NMP maps, go download their pack... it's full of their maps!
