I thought maybe my University had blocked certain ports on the University wired Internet connection, but my friend downstairs can sign into MSN just fine.

First, I'm on AIM and MSN, at like 2am one night... I wake up the next morning, AIM and MSN won't sign in. MSN says something's wrong with the default gateway, and AIM just says could not connect, like seconds from hitting the connect button.

He had changed his computer's date/time. Had to be set current again.

Don't know, but MSN and AIM won't connect if your computer time is wrong.
