I have no clue why, but out of no where, my downloads start getting screwed. I've attempted to download the song from "King of the Hill" and suddenly, if stops at a range of 25 - 75 % every time, and disconnects my internet. I eventualy managed to connect again, so I tried to download something different, and it still does the same thing. What the crap is going on??? I need the ability to download, I download things every 2 minutes.
Also, off topic, my screen keeps blacking out once in a while, probly cuz of the video card. Is there drivers to fix this?
WTF??? DL???

Re: WTF??? DL???
Every time you do anything over the internet, you download things. That includes surfing webpages.Detchro wrote:I download things every 2 minutes.
So your problem would be with single, large file downloads. (Just to clarify... unless the same problem occurs when you surf pages... does it?)
I can't think of something obvious stopping prolonged downloads. Could be server hangs, or possibly wireless. Are you on a wireless connection?
What does your modem show when your downloads stops? Does it still show it's connected to your ISP?
When it hangs, can you still browse other pages?
Also, your video driver can either be updated, or reinstalled. It'd be nice to know more about your video card + current driver.
Re: WTF??? DL???
when I attempt to download something myself, not an automatic system download, it stops, and my internet cuts is self. And yes, I am on wireless. When I download anything thats larger than a meg, it stops it.
My video card... I can't discribe it very good. All I can say is it's 128 megs and my dad told me is was a silver color.
EDIT: There is a new, weird problem. My HALO PC is acting up. I got awsome graphics now, but after about 2-5 minutes of game play, it gives me a flash of blue screen with a bunch of words, and then instantly dissapears and restarts my computer. (my dad calls it the "Blue screen of Death")

Re: WTF??? DL???
You didn't answer too many of my questions that would help to narrow it down... oh well.
I'm gonna assume it's your wireless connection because there really isn't anything that would only affect large file downloads. (Do you have any download accelerators installed?)
Either move your PC or get a LAN cable long enough to reach your computer and try downloading while hard-connected, not wireless.
See if the problem still persists.
About your graphics card...
The Blue Screen of Death is infamous.
Many Windows user's know it too well. It's probably because your graphics card is either dying, or a change has been made to it recently.
I would download the drivers for it and try to reinstall them before coughing up the dough to buy a new one.
To get info about your graphics card and its driver, go to Start>Run>'dxdiag' (minus the quotes)
If this is the first time you run this command, you might get a window that looks like this:
Go ahead and hit 'Yes'.
Now with the DirectX Diagnostic Tool open, it will scan your computer and update itself. Let it run before you start messing with things or your computer will hang.
Once the progress bar in the bottom left disappears, you're good to look around. Browse to the 'Display' tab at the top of the window.
It will look something like this:
Take a screen shot, upload to ImageShack or TinyPic, and post it here.
We'll get you a copy of some new drivers with that info.

Re: WTF??? DL???
Thanks.
EDIT: With everything thats f*cking up my computer, I just got a new problem. My windows blinds is going all "Mind F*cker" on me. I tried out a visual style, and didn't like it, but for some reason, I can't turn it back to my original msstyles. It only leaves me with windows classic, and now, it won't even show the f*cking msstyles at all!
It is realy starting to leave a huge f*cking vein in my neck.

Re: WTF??? DL???
Go to nVidia's driver page and fill in the info.
Product Type: GeForce
Product Series: GeForce 5 FX Series
Operating System: (This is what I didn't know. Just select the appropriate one for whatever OS you're running.)
Language: English
It might be a good idea to make a restore point before you install the driver.

He is running XP, but he believes that a theme is an entirely new operating system.
