RED RINGS.

Okay, so, I was playing CoD4 earlier, and about 30 minutes into playing, the screen went black, then flashed, then the 360 gave me red rings. Only, they weren't rings, they were half of the ring. Like, only two of the controller light thingies were light up red. WTF does this mean? Like seriously. My 360 still works, but it does that like once every week at the least, and it's getting annoying getting to round 16 in the zombie mode for CoD5 (so totally not bragging

), then suddenly blacking out. :[

Minimal research tells me that the "two ring" issue is a result of overheating.
You may want to try letting it cool down for awhile.

When I googled it I found pictures of kittens. >_> am i doin it rite? That's what I thought, I just wondered cause it had never done that before when I played it for like 3 hours straight. I'll probably just get an intercooler for it. Or a fan.
Thx.

You lucky bastard.

No problem. But before you go ahead and buy some fancy stuff, I'd wait to see if anyone else that has actually had experience with this situation posts.

Sounds like the heatsinks have gotten a little too clogged with dust or what not and are now more of a insulator of heat than conductor.
in other words your xbox is slowly toasting it self.

Yeah, same thing happened to my Xbox a few months ago. Leave it off for a while, then check it. If it overheats again you'll probably have to send it in.

Pour some liquid nitrogen on it.

That should make it cooler than getting to round 16 in the zombie mod for CoD5.
Lol, bad joke.

Put your Xbox 360 Horizontal and on something wood/metal surface with nothing around it. Most of the time my 360 doesent even get hot enough to feel it. (6+ hrs playing). Also my 360 is elevated off the ground and my house is always cool >.>(even in the winter)

Sorry about that, time to time I don't tend to come off clear on what I ment.
Yea, normaly people put their 360's right near a vent and crank up the heet to like 70 or higher.

Next time you have the chance, skewer your 360 onto a metal rod and roast it on an open camp fire. See what happens.
Now, imagine that open campfire being IN your 360.
That's why it would matter if it got hot. >_>
Senor_Grunt, have you already purchased that intercooler? Has it worked?
I've heard that the intercooler is detrimental to the 360. It seems to not always work as well as hoped.
Some people love it, some people hate it 'cause it has fried their Xbox.
Your thoughts?

Also it shortens your Xbox 360's life span before something related to heat breaks it. Take my advice, elevated and open is better. (360 never gets warm to the touch after 4 hrs of playing)

I got my Xbox 360 last Christmas along with an intercooler. I also bought an XSATA later in January. Putting both on at the same time fried the Xbox 360 and I had to send it in and wait a month. So I would not risk using an intercooloer. I just have my XSATA on now.
