Ok so i plan on getting a capture card for Christmas. I already have a crappy one but its not good quality. What I want to do is still be able to play my xbox 360 on my TV while I use my capture card (I always have to play off of my computer monitor). I know you need some kind of splitter to do this but I'm confused on what to get exactly. Is there something I can get from a Bestbuy or Circuit City that would do that trick?

edit: don't know if this matters but I only have one a/v port on my computer

Does your TV have an output port?

You could use a VCR if you have any cables like this.

They have that on both ends of the same cable, that would go from the output of your VCR into the input of your capture card, and then you would plug your 360 into the VCR's input. Then connect it to the TV with a Coaxial Cable

Does your computer have an S-video out? You may be able to set the recording software to full screen and use your tv as a second monitor.

Maybe you should get a capture card that has an output too. But either way I'm not sure how good the quality would be.

Maybe get a video splitters (or something similar).

He wants to get picture from TV to computer, not computer out to something else.

Tural's idea is the best way to do this, if your TV had a video in and a video out.
Since it doesn't, you're gonna have to purchase what mr_penguin suggested, an AV splitter.

I did find a 4 way splitter from Maplin.co.uk, but they're from England... if that matters. $38 bucks will make you a proud owner.
EC-Deal also has a 4 way splitter for $22 bucks. This seems like a better way to go over Maplin.

The difference over these vs the one from RadioShack that mr_penguin pointed out was the RadioShack unit upconverts AV quality video to S quality. Nothing you would need unless your capture card has an S video input, and if you're worried about a higher quality picture.

To get it to work you would have the AV cables from the 360 go into the input on the switch, then from the output run AV cables to the TV, then from another output run another set of AV cables to the capture card on the PC. Do you have enough--and long enough--AV cables to do this? If not, add another item to your list.

I think so actually. It sounds right. My TV and computer are very close by and a 6 foot AV cable should do the trick. Thanks a lot guys
