I got a new video card today, cuz my old one is failing and refreshes the moniter every 2 seconds (Not exagerating) and ever sense I put it in, my Halo has gone from bad to good grfx. Sounds good, right? WRONG!!! After about 2 or 3 minutes of Halo PC gameplay, a flash of blue screen comes up, with words that I cant read in .56 seconds, and the computer restarts itself. I have never heard of something like this... Here are facts that might help solve this... this... "PSYCHOCHENATIC ELECTRIC MIND TORTURE"!!!
The video card is NVIDIA FX5 Series - 128 mb
Resolution is the same for the game and desktop - 1024x768
Before i had this card, I tried to use Pixel shader force user or w/e it's called. I renamed dxd9.dll to ddxd9.dll cuz it wont work, and I dont feel like deleting dxd9 and dxd8.
Every time I bring up halo, i get a message "Reading indecate that Halo did not exit correctly. Choose SAFE MODE so it can fuck with your settings."
PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!
This is a real f*cking problem I have! Why wont anyone give a sh*t about me? I WANNA PLAY HALO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

1. have you installed the driver software that came with your card?
2. how old is that card? maybe you need a better card with more VRAM
3. don't double post, its annoying, if you care enough about your problem then you will be patient, people will come eventually
4. have you installed it correctly (always good to ask, don't flip on me)
5. can you stop advertising this thread in other peoples thread's, we get it, you need help, see #3

by how new it is i mean the actual product itself, not how long you've had it.
EDIT, my bad, just realized you told me which product it is

Maybe your psu really really sucks, and when your card is under load, it bluescreens.

The FX 5 series graphics cards are quite out of date when it comes to nVidia's focus. I doubt they'll have much support for those particular cards anymore.
However you'd get more info from
their forums, rather than a Halo forum; and it sounds like your problem is your card, not Halo.
Since you just bought it, I'd take it back to whatever store you bought it from and talk with the tech people. See what kind of advice they have for you.
Before you go I'd look into your computer's specs and note what kind of cards it can and can't take, then compare the price difference between the FX5 card and something bigger/better.
If they can't fix it, look into a better card.
You might be surprised, returning the FX5 and buying a better card that will do the job could be less expensive than you think. (And less of a hassle! since you've already been through a bit with this current card.)
Or you could try the almighty Google.. let us know what happens.
P.S. Wanna steer clear of the profanities and impatience? Thanks.

and as for the problem, it might be PSU if there's nothing wrong with the drivers, although i wouldn't rule out the card being perfectly fine either if it's an older one, depending on where you got it from.
