Myspace Account Phished??

Post by Yamagushi »

I just logged onto myspace to see a message saying my account was phished and I had to change my password. Now im very aware of phishing sites and im about 99.9% sure I never visited one. Did anyone else get this message on Myspace? I have a feeling they got hacked and there just lying and blaming it on phishing. I only check my myspace when I recieve and email saying something like friend request, new message, etc. Reason im sure it was never phished is i dont delete my email and I checked all past myspace emails ive recieved. NONE of them lead to a phishing site.

Is the password obscure enough to not be guessed from publicly available information?

Were you prevented from logging in by the message you received? Or rather, did you have to change the password before you could access your account?

That's a really dumb system. Hey, your password has been stolen, but we're not going to disable the account or make the password be changed, we're going to keep the same password, so the people who have it can still log in with it.

And you're sure it's a legitimate warning?
