so can you upload your own signatures from the computer to this site?

No. To use a signature image, you'll need to upload the image to an image hosting site, such as ImageShack, TinyPic, or Photobucket. After doing so, you will be provided with the image's URL, which you can put in your signature inside of image tags. An example, my signature, is like this:
