I know, late post but just in case you have a problem in the future.
spybot is a good program: http://www.safer-networking.org/en/mirrors/index.html
And I also use adaware on my moms computer and it removes some things spybot can't. The free version works good enough:

both of them don't run when windows starts so they don't slow down your pc.
