Computer being slow.

Well every since I downloaded that Halo 3 Re-Hasher, it has been taking at least 60 seconds for a menu to come up when I right click. This only happens when I right click on the desktop or anywhere but Applications i.e. FireFox, MSN. And I wanted to move something to another folder its said moving
Also when I was emptying the recycle bin I it took 11 minutes to delete 111MB. It has never taken that long to to delete something. I have virus protection and 1GB or RAM. I'm gong to buy some RAM today anyway. But I want to find out what its doing this.

Well, this teaches you to not download random files. Especially ones that are obviously malware.
I would backup any useful files and restore my OS. That's just me. Also try searching to see if there are any guides explaining the damage done by this specific "Re-Hasher".

The Re-Hasher is from here and others have downloaded it. Sorry I forgot to mention, I just applied some updates awhile after I downloaded it.

It cannot be the re-hasher. That wouldn't do anything to your PC. Try optimizing your computer with this software. It makes a HUGE difference.

Tell me the exact specs for your computer, I may be able to help you. Use CPU-Z to get the information, a simple google search can locate the download.
Also, by default vista could have lowered your computers power levels. the settings are in Control Panel --> Performance and Maintenance --> Power Options.

I don't have SP1 either. It hasn't shown up in the windows update for some reason. And this is my desktop and it sucks.

Most people have there PC's loaded with useless crap and don't have it set to reach its full potential. Just because you have great hardware doesn't mean its going to work great.
I would recommend optimizing your PC. I wouldn't use some application to do it though. Theres tons of guides out there, try

Its not your computer its vista, ive ha the same problem and then switched back to windows xp, everything was much much faster, and same thing on one of my old computer which only have 768 ram and p4 2.4ghz, its just something really f***** stupid with vista, the "greatest" os ever invented yeah rite...
edit: topic might be old, but its also for users experiencing the same problems.
