awhile ago my grandma gave us her ipod to see if we could fix it, it wouldn't hold a charge and you have to plug it into a computer to see anything it does not show up on computers and i am wondering what my chances are of fixing it it shows the little picture of a ipod with a ! in a triangle what should i do nothing seems to work and i don't want to send it into apple.

we searched for the warranty when we got it, it was 2 days out of warranty and it took them a week to get it to us. there is a chance it might be the battery but i don't want to put the money into it if it won't work.

what can i do to determine whats wrong?

P.S. i also have checked apples website and i will check again.

One time, my ipod stopped working. My dad opened up the case just to see what the hardware looked like. When we put it back together, it worked perfectly. You might want to try that.

ok i will try that after i try and recharge it for the suggested time maybe longer but how do i take a ipod apart there aren't any screws.

You just pry the front off the back. I think sticking a pocket knife in between and wiggleing it will work.

How old is the iPod?
Was it first used on a Mac?

no it was used on a windows xps compact machine. i do not know how old it was a year ago it broke so i'd say 2 years maybe 3. just kinda thought I'd try and fix it again so ya...
