i have heard about people doing that on a box modding community so just wondering i think it was probally a modded thing they were talking about.

I think you mean using your Xbox harddrive through an FTP. Which would possible.

'Memory' on the other hand is RAM...

You can add additional memory to the original xbox console. It's pointless if you can't create applications to use it though.

RAM is a type of memory. Memory isn't solely RAM. Saying that "memory" is RAM is, in fact, wrong. You do not know if that is the type of memory he was talking about.

The term "memory" in reference to computer hardware is almost universally known to mean RAM. I've seen some unorthodox uses of it referring to physical storage, though.
I really have no idea which is being referred to here.
The title would lead me to believe that you are talking about storage, in which case, what exactly do you mean? Transferring files? FTP. Adding space? Slap in a new hard drive.

You can transfer files through FTP. There are many tutorials on xbox-scene.com. I would suggest going there.
