bitmaps.map won't reset

Ok, so while I was making a skin, (soon to be released) some bitmaps started looking weird in game, so I copied the bitmaps.map from the CD and put it into the maps folder and overwrite the old one, booted up the game, and... SURPRISE, all the skins and corrupted bitmaps are still there, I have tried rewriting the bitmaps.map several times now, but it won't get rid of the old ones! HELP!
