Well..what do you need for two xboxes to "link" together. If you plug an ethernet end into each one...i don't think that'll work. Or would it? And also, can you use a router to link them together WITHOUT and internet going in. Just two ethernets with no internet going in? Thanks for any help.

A hub.
Xbox ->> Ethernet cable ->> Hub <<- Ethernet Cable2 <<- Xbox2.
A router could perhaps act as a hub, try it - and no you dont need internet access for system link.

Well if your only gonna use two xbox's then you can use a crossover cable without the need of any form of network hub.
*a crossover cable is also known as a link cable in the gaming world*
