You might need to update DirectX.

I did. It didn't work. There was this thing where you downloaded something, and then it checked your comp. and then it gave you a code, and then you got another download. I think that's the right site.

I've had a problem like this but it said mine wasn't compatible with my computer but I have windows 2000 so i figured it should work...but it doesnt

Run 'dxdiag' in the Run box. Click on the 'Display' tab, and see if you can enable DirectDraw.

When this error happened for me, It wouldn't allow me to run the DirectDraw and Direct3D tests. So I reinstalled the newest video driver for my gfx card.

Remove your current driver and install the lastest one for your video card.
