Ok, well I bought this game about 2-3 years ago, the first time I installed it I had a problem where it said my video card driver wasn't compatible with halo pc, so I found an updated one and it worked fine from then out. The problem is I got bored of it and uninstalled halo, and over the years I guess the driver has been uninstalled and the original one loaded back in.
I got bored and decided I'd play again, and sure enough the same problem has came back.

I click continue anyway and this message appears...

So I went to nvidia.com, got what looked to be the right driver for my card (Nvidia GeForce2 MX/MX400). When its all installed and everything I reinstalled halo, reinstalled directx 9.0c, and tried running it. This time instead of the incompatible video driver message, it says something along the lines of "Failure to initialize DirectDraw, hardware acceleration may be disabled." So I ran dxdiag.exe, and directdraw is running fine...but, the button that says AGP Texture Acceleration is ghosted, and says not available??? It only says that when the newer driver is installed, with the old one its fine.
My acceleration is set to full...still no dice. After about 4-5 times of installing, reinstalling, uninstalling the new and old drivers I've had it and I need some help. I dont know if perhaps I downloaded the wrong driver or what, if I have can someone tell me what I need? Keep in mind I have successfully played this game in the past and experienced no problems once I got past that very first one.
Video card: GeForce2 MX/MX400
DirectX: 9.0c
Service pack 2 is installed
I have updated halo to v1.07
If you need more information, just say what you need and I'll get it.
Please, don't make posts saying stuff like "Buy a new graphics card" or stuff like that, I have played Halo fine with the one i have in the past...
Thankyou.

Maybe that helps. Most of the time you just have to update the driver and it will be fixed

Re: Video driver problems...
Unfortunately, that may be your only option. Not only would it fix your problem, but even the cheapest cards these days will display all the effects in Halo.hal0freak wrote:Please, don't make posts saying stuff like "Buy a new graphics card" or stuff like that, I have played Halo fine with the one i have in the past...
If you did get yours working, you would not be able to see shadows, specular effects, probably not even player colors.
Also, next time you try to fix it, you don't need to reinstall Halo, or even DirectX
Back on the subject of the drivers, the ones that worked may no longer be available, and the update ones are, apparently, not compatible with Halo.
