i just got autocad 2006 student edition and i was wondering can i model weapons and the such with the program for halo 2? thanks

Autocad is for technical drawings, i believe.
for modeling you can use:

maya
Gmax (free)
milkshape(free)
3dsmax (recommended)

Maya Personal Learning Edition is free. Whether it imports or exports .OBJ I do not know.
