Accident with my softmod

I was making room on my hard drive and I accedentaly removed the linux profile an I just thought I would reinstall it, but all it does when I go to install it my xbox says service required. Me and one of my friends tried to swap hard drives out of an older xbox that didn't work, but still nothing. I read something somewhere that the xbox has 2 hard drives if that is true would switching both hard drives work an let me softmod my xbox again.
