Now that i have the money i plan to buy a pre moded xbox. i Need a site that i can buy it off of. xbox-modchips doesn't allow returns so if something is wrong with it id get screwed over by that. xbox-scene dosn't sell anything, they just link to other site so dont give a link to them. im looking for an XECUTER 3 premodded x-box (or 2.6 ce). I need a site that allows returns and sends it fully functional.
Im looking at a budget of around $210-300

id try ebay, although it would be cheaper to buy a used xbox and mechassault and a action replay and softmod it ur self. or just but a modchip and use a solderless adaptor.

Installing a modchip is so much easier then it looks/sounds, and why would you waste all that money when you could do it yourself for a lot lot cheaper?!

Softmods are the cheap way out. Seriously, almost everyone with a softmod has had the intention to mod on xbl..
Chipping is much more efficient and it's much more reliable.

Right you are Ketchup, a chip is the way to be. There are so many problems to run into when doing a softmod. With a chip, its as easy as 1. Install - 2. Setup - 3. Have Fun! :D

I would like to keep my Xbox live and soft modingis just dumb. My previewus mod chip didn't work. im going to see if its cheaper to buy a second box and chip. thoe the 5v Adapter in the 1.6b doesn't seem to work with half the new chips. the solderless adapter for 1.6b is like $30 alone. i found a site whare i can get a premod for $250-$300. Ebay is usless, all that came up were x-box with light mods.

Not I.

Efficient: I can softmod an xbox in under two minutes, often cheaper to softmod.
Reliable: What if you mess up the soldering, with a softmod you can simply 'restore backup'

Ermmm Tural, most mod chips nowadays have a solderless adaptor...

Ok. You still have to pay the shipping and wait for it in the mail, thus Softmodding is still faster. As to the reliable, I would say they tie, because anything that messes up would be user error. Unless the chip explodes or something.

I can chip and xbox and replace the HDD in about 10 minutes.
And I don't miss soldering.
Besides, I always backup my stuff with chips.. get on AIM. Gotta talk to ya.

I use soft mods, but only as a launching platform for the only true Xbox modding "art"... TSOP split flashing. And those v1.1s still aren't all that hard to find.

But TSOP flashes are still not able to upgrade bioses if a new one comes out. You flash that baby once and that is the bios you deal with for the rest of its life.

I think you are smoking crack. That's so incredibly untrue it's not even funny. You can reflash a TSOP a billion time if you feel like wasting your time like that.

Whoopsies, that's my bad.
But still, it's a pain and chips are far better.
I'm going to run away before I make a fool outta myself much more. >_<

There is only 1 thing a chipped xbox can do that softmodded ones can't. Boot from a burnt DVD/CD, The first ability might be useful if you fuck your dash, but unless you are an idiot and didnt back anything up, it might save you 10 minutes restoring. Thats it.

Modchips are a good way to go becasue you dont have to worry about messing anything up, but if your cheap use a softmod just dont delete anything important and make a backup. And yes pple who used a softmod to be gay on live and mod becasue they suck is what really puts the softmod to shame
