Laptop graphics card

Post by USMC Cam »

I got a Compaq presario R3000z because it had an athlon 64 processor, but it came with a geforce go mx440. There is another model called the R3000t with a 128mb Radeon 9600 graphics card and it's in the same case. The only difference is the motherboard is for a pentium 4. If I found a 9600 mobility from an r3000t could I put it in mine? I know I could in a desktop but I don't know how laptops do that, and I have the laptop

generally speaking laptop video cards are integrated into the motherboard, for space savng reasons, i have yet to see a modular laptop vid card, looks like if you want to update, your going to need a new motherboard for your laptop, but, don't take my word for it, look around some other forums and stuff like, anandtech.com etc...
