New SATA

Post by CanadianPanda »

Alright guys I just bought a new SATA 2 (320 gigs) . I already have 2 IDE HD's a 250 and an 80. I know my motherboard supports the SATA.
My problem is even after getting my BIOS to detect it and seeting it as a secondary slave (iv tried other places too) The SATA dose not show up in windows XP pro. I do not know why . I wanted to use my SATA as a storage bin basically .
the os is on the 80 gig.

Well, go into your control panel, then administrative tools, then into your computer management. On the right side choose disk management. See if windows xp see's the extra hdd at all. You may need to format and partition your hdd...if you haven't already. But from what you've explained...you haven't.

*This picture taken at my girlfriends house. She doesn't have lots 'o hdd space

I read about this somewhere...this is the number #1 user error with SATA drives...I might have to look up again, can't right now. Sorry.

I think you have to try a different SATA slot or something like that. I can't remember.

No Master HDD found
Press F1 to Resume.

I press F1 and windows starts. But seeing as the SATA still isnt there i'm not sure...
