Xbox Live on Core System (360)

Post by JK-47 »

I might be getting a new 360 soon, but I'm a bit low on money, and don't want to spend too much money.
So I was wondering, would I be able to play XBL on the core 360 system? Because I'd need to install updates, but the core system has no hard drive..

Xbox LIVE: Xbox LIVE is where games and entertainment come alive, the only unified place where you can play with anyone, anytime, anywhere. And the best just got better. Connect Xbox 360 to your broadband connection, attach a storage device (hard drive or memory unit) and get instant access to Xbox LIVE Silver. Express your digital identity through your gamertag and gamer card, talk with others using voice chat, and access Xbox LIVE Marketplace.

Last I checked, getting a Core system and buying an HDD costs just as much as buying a Premium.

New news.
Xbox Scene wrote:Thanks to Emanuel, an intrepid tipster who went above and beyond the call of duty, we managed to get a full unboxing of the Xbox 360 Arcade before Microsoft has even been able to send out a press release about the thing. Whenever the console officially lands, you can expect to pick up the hard drive free console for $279.99, which includes a 256MB Memory Card, a Wireless controller, an HDMI port minus the cable, and a disc that includes copies of Xbox LIVE Arcade games Boom Boom Rocket, Feeding Frenzy, Luxor 2, Pac-Man Championship Demo, and Uno.
So if you get the Arcade bundle (Replacing Core systems), you will be able to play Live, but you won't be able to store much. No downloaded content or anything of the like. Your playing will essentially be limited to that of the retail game itself.

Silver is free.
Gold is $50 per year.
Silver lets you download stuff from Live, have a friends list, etc. You can't play online.
Gold lets you play online and do everything.

Well with a silver you can do everything in halo 3 except matchmaking.

You can play custom games with friends, campaign games, forge, theatre.

Only the 360 supports Silver. The Xbox will only utilize a gold account.
