3dsmax *.obj batch import

Post by TelTura »

awright, here's a problem I've had for the past few...years. I hate *.obj's. Hate 'em. Only recently have I been able to tolerate them, and that's only because I finally figured out how to import them without having half the polygons flipped.

now they've found a new way to piss me off.

okay, not them specifically...just what they happen to hold. I recently got my hands on a Halo 2 bsp exporter, and I did a dance. I exported Lockout, and it came in 16 different *.obj pieces....no biggie, I've good at tedious, annoying, repeated imports. I'm a pro.

but some of the campaign maps go to hundreds of *.obj's...and my clicking finger is begging for a respite. I've tried searching all over the internet, and these forums in particular, for some sort of script or something that allows me to import multiple files...a batch process within 3dsMAX. does ANYONE know of one, or, heck, failing that, where I could go to find out how to MAKE a simple one? I just can't keep going on like this...

heck, my solution doesn't even have to be what I have in mind...is there a bsp exporter that plops everything into one mesh? an external program that takes a hundred files and welds them all together? I'm quite open to any sort of solution.

thanks in advance.

If you would like to contact me on AIM, I will give you a version of Entity that I added a extra feature so it exports only one .obj instead of a lot like you were talking about.

Does that one .obj still keep all its shaders and UVW maps?
