Chat Text Gone?

Post by PCGUY112887 »

For some reason sudnelly any server I go in has no chat. I can it T and the thing will come up at the bottom, but if I type anything it just never appears. And I can't see anything anyone elce is typing. Now can they turn chat off on a server, or am I having some weird bug, or both? It's not just 1 server that is doing this, it is all of the servers I try in any map.

NVM I found it!
Thank you for using Microsoft Games Online Support. My name is Bibek
and I will be helping you today with Halo: Combat Evolved.

As I understand it, while playing Halo: Combat Evolved online you are
unable to see the chat messages and the messages displayed when a
character dies.

I have observed this issue in several instances due to a
damaged installation of MSXML. To resolve this issue let us try the
following steps and see if that works.

Un-register MSXML
-----------------------

1. Click Start, then Run
2. Type in the following lines (one line at a time) and press Enter
key.
regsvr32 /u msxml4.dll

Note: If you we are receiving error message while executing these
commands, please continue with next step.

Reinstall MSXML
-----------------------

3. Reinstall MSXML from the Halo CD. Insert the game CD-ROM in the
drive. Open my computer and browse to the folder Drive:\Redist folder and
double click on the msxmlenu.msi file, where drive is the drive letter
for the CD-ROM drive.

Register MSXML
-----------------------

After reinstalling MSXML, let us make sure that the MSXML4.dll is
registered correctly. To do this, use the following command.

1. Click Start, then Run
2. Type in the following lines and press Enter key.
regsvr32 msxml4.dll

Note: It may be necessary to put the entire path in the un-register
commands above, such as REGSVR32 /U C:\Windows\System32\MSXML4.DLL, where
'C:' is the drive in which Windows is installed. Alternatively, we can
search the whole hard disk for the MSXML4.DLL, note the exact location
and enter the p
ath in the REGSVR32 command.

Now restart the computer, launch the game and check if the issue is
resolved.

Please let me know if you have any questions and if this was helpful. I
am looking forward to your response and thank you again for using
Microsoft Online Assisted Support!
