[haloPC] Multi POV Models Is there a easy way?

Post by theDot »

I was learning how to model and I was doing good until I came to the multiple models for different point of views.
Is there a easy way to create the model with the most detail and automaticly make the models with less vertices? As of now I have to make each one separately and hope they match. Such a pain.

On a side note Milkshape always screws up my vertices if the model has multiple parts to it.

You should model the 1st person model then swap it for the 3rd person model in HHT. The 1st person model only has 1 model to edit.

Btw, about the models, it's Level Of Detail, not Point Of View. The LOD decreases the farther away you get from the model to reduce frame lag.

(If you have anymore questions, you can visit www.halopce.com and ask there.)

'1st person" and "3rd person" are two points of view.
And i meantioned in my question levels of detail, so i don't know why you are correcting me. Thats just rude man.

I use HMT 3.5 to inject. It doesn't automaticly reduce vertices, does HHT?
I tried to find model injection in HHT and i don't see that option anywhere.

Are you talking about doing a meta swap cause that does answer the question? It is just a shortcut around the problem. Besides i tried that and it didn't work. Game just crashes on start.

If you know something I could be doing wrong let me know.

You said multiple models, not levels of detail. The way you said it confused me.

What I'm telling you to do is to model the weapons first person model since it only has 1 model to edit, then swap the third person model for it in HHT.

Like so:

This makes the first person model appear in both the third person view and the first person view.

Works

Post by theDot »

Hey thanks.

That did work. I haven't use HHT much.
Can you import .obj with HHT?

One problem tho instead of laying flat when dropped the gun sticks out of the ground. See pic below. If i can fix that and my problem with Milkshape making stray points when i export a model with multiple parts i will be set. See the arrow. I got a stray from the ammo meter plate. I fix it in milkshape export and it is right back there again.

No.

For the sticking out of the ground problem, use this.

And as for that last problem, I don't know anything about actual modeling, only how to inject them into the game...
