Well just thought I'd wish everyone a merry christmas one last time. But it's not exactly over yet. I think it's time for one last present.

It's been several years since this mod started. I think it's time for it to end

From the readme

Code: Select all

Well guys, it's been a long time, but here it is. As promised, Ambush of Modern Combat. Unfortunately

the models contained within the mod are all very old place holder models. All those new models you may

have seen recently we have decided to put to better use. We cannot discuss at this time what they will be

used for but as you can tell, it's not halo. The majority of the weapons are skinned and a few vehicles as

well. There a few unfinished things like sounds and some animations but nothing that would affect

gameplay. The only known major error is the tank turret, for some reason, cannot rotate a full 360.

However the weapons and vehicles have all been nicely balanced out and have been tweaked to

simulate reality best as possible. All things aside, it's a great mod to have fun with. For all of us who

tested it gave us a good few hours of entertainment. So here it is guys, have fun with it :)

Wave of Lag for assisting with a few last minute things :)
SteelixB for his marine FP arms
To anyone else I may have forgotten thanks for the help. It's been a long time.
And to everyone who supported this mod since its start several years ago! Thanks everyone!

this was rushed to be released and im going to leave it at that.

things left unskinned
vehicles and guns could have correct names placed on them
nade animation is way off
everything just looks bland so to speak

while the gun models are top notch it doesnt make up for the overall experience for me.

i know i couldnt do any of this in this mod but i do know what looks rushed to be released. this seems like it to me at least.

7/10

after waiting and following the thread so long i was just expecting more =/

please read before you post. it was stated the majority of the mod is left unfinished. and i'm pretty sure you haven't even played it yet. read what was posted. we're done with the mod. it itself is not done. we're just done. we're focusing more on what all the models are really gunna be used for. also the grenade timing is fine for what i wanted to do. unfortunately not all the weapons have the proper animation or are off by a few seconds.

i did download it. i did play it. if i didnt how would i know when you get into the blackhawk it says pelican?

as i said..
for the time waiting for it to come out i felt a little let down. im not trying to be rude about it but it seems like im the only one voicing what where all discussing on xfire right now. you guys are well respected modders so we tend to expect more maybe.. i dunno, if it was a lack of interest continuing the mod then so be it.

From what I see, I'd say that it appears to be a very good map. But I dont like it. The models for the jeep seem very rough, and while the gun models are great, as are bipeds, but they dont really look like they belong in Halo. If you want to play a game like that, go buy black hawk down or call of duty. Halo is meant to be futuristic, not present day.

overall, my opinion is 8/10

Feel weird to post in the CE section on this site. :/

Anyways, very nice penguin. I remember back on hpc when you showed the trailer thing and i saw team biped, that was so amazing. I am sad it had to be dropped, i really wanted to see it was possible just as a last bit of glory for the scripters. Even without this the conversion looks pretty good, a little un-polished but very good non the less. Maybe if i ever get over my fear of h2v forums i will come give you some rep over there for releasing this, that is assuming i have the ability to give rep...

That sort of is the point of this. While we may be done with this mod, there'll be more releases. We've moved to a better engine with a wider audience and MUCH more capability and support, and it only makes sense to focus our attention there.

you obviously don't understand what it really means to mod. modding does not mean you make your stupid assault rifle shoot rockets. modding it about doing what no one would have ever thought to do and trying hard to go past the boundaries the game designers put in place. it's a challenge. and the biggest challenge of all, in any game, is a total conversion mod. so like snaf said. that was exactly the point of this mod. we didn't want it to feel like halo. our goal was to take a futuristic game and make it present day and make it feel nothing like it did before.

also i understand why would be let down pepsi. i don't blame ya. in fact, i expected your reaction from everyone. it wasn't so much lack of interest as it was lack of time. all those models you've seen us make are going to a much better use. trust me, you won't be disappointed. and because this allows us to do so much more and has better graphical support, our focus is on that now, we don't have time for this mod. anyway, take it for what it is and try and have fun with it. we certainly did.

when you guys get this going on a new engine or whatever i will follow blindly. keep us updated somehow. i dont care if its halo modding or not add it in the gamers section so we can keep tabs on it plz?

thx!

i found a secret weapon, it say you pick a flametrower but others see you with no weapon. i'll get a picture when i can.

Edit: here how to get the weapon (or empty hands)
target this area
Image

fire
Image

look for it
Image

and there you go
Image

ps: you cant drop this weapon so you can only have 1 weapon at a time, you can only switch from empty hands to the weapon you have, you can swap it but the empty hads cant be change.

yea it's not a secret. also works like a normal weapon so it should have no effect on your other weapons

Only things I noticed were lots of missing weapon animations (melee) but the reload animation for the Ak-47 is very nice. I'm not fond at the lack of being able to ADS considering there's no crosshair. The RPG animation is also way too fast. Otherwise it has a new feel to it, and despite it not being complete you can still get a pretty fun experience out of it.

8/10 :P

Great work, but as others have said, I'd have loved to see more stuff.

I congratulate the team on a job well done.

I give it a 9/10.
