In this Discussion I will be teaching you about Reflexes. But firstly, why even bother with Reflexes? What are Reflexes? How can you get a Reflexive? These and many more questions will be answered within this Document.
Firstly, why even bother with Reflexes? Reflexes are pointers. You don't even probably know it but you are changing them all the time! Reflexives in Xbox noramlly end in 80. In PC it is 40. When you change let's say a value you are actually changing the Reflexive. You see. When you go to an Offset. Not a Meta Offset. You are at a number that ends in 40 for PC. That is a reflexive. It points to the Meta Data.
Secondly, how do you change a Reflexive? You do it by taking the 4 Byte number at the offset and swapping the Endian and then Subtracting the Magic of the Map. Now you have your offset. Compare it with the Tag Meta Offset. Wow! It is the same! For. When you change one of these Longs or 4 Byte numbers at the Offset with another you are just changing it's pointer to point to a New Meta. That Meta is still there. It may not be used by anything though when Modding. Reflexes can point to the same Meta. Reflexes are also used in Proper Model Injection. You must change it's pointers to point to the new map. However we are not going into Perfect Model Injection in this Document.
Thirdly, when in an Xml File what would something like this mean?
<Reflexive>
<Location>0x144</Location>
<Translation>0x3F0</Translation>
<ChunkCount>4</ChunkCount>
</Reflexive>
This is for the MP Warthog in a map. However. What does it all mean?! This Reflexive means in the Meta File of the Warthog at 0x00000144 there is a Reflexive that points to something for the Warthog. It isn't the Meta because it is within the Meta. It points to a certain part of the Meta File. When at the 0x00000144 Offset within the Meta File there is a 4 Byte Number. Reverse it. Subtract Magic. Then go to that Offset within the map. Notice that it is pointed within the Meta
After reading this you now probably have a better understanding of what Reflexes are and how they are helpful to Modding
