Yes, the title is correct! There is a way to modify your trial maps (bloodgulch.map or b30.map) using SparkEdit and HaloHackerTools.
I saw this tutorial on another website, and thought it could be helpful so I am remaking it here.
What You Will Need
-A Hex Editor. I use Hex Workshop (its free, google it. I'm too lazy to link =P).
-HHT
-SparkEdit
Getting Started
First make a folder named Bloodgulch. Inside that make 2 subfolders; one named 'Normal' and one named 'Hexed'. Copy your map file, we'll use bloodgulch, into both subfolders. Now, open up the bloodgulch.map from Hexed in your hex editor (as I said before, I'm using Hex Workshop 3.1).
Now highlight down to D029. (this step it to make sure yor on track)
Now click off and click before 0983. Now enter these codes (just start typing)
6461 6568 0700 0000 F435 DB00 0000 0000 7419 8500 801C 5600 0000 0000 0000 0000 626C 6F6F 6467 756C 6368 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 3031 2E30 302E 3030 2E30 3536 3400 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 0100 0000 76D5 A35E 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000 0000
The last one replaced is C714 (the one before D029.
When your done it should look like this-
Now I realize that is a lot to type, and you cannot copy and paste it. But I will note that you can copy and paste codes from a hex file to a hex file, so you'll only need to type it once.
You can now succesfuly open trial maps in HHT and SparkEdit.
In order to run the maps you must change the hex back to normal (copy the hex from the map file in Bloodgulch->Normal)
*NOTE* Like I said before, I did NOT make this up. I am just posting it on www.halomods.com/forums.
