Applying PPF Patches
First off a ppf is a patch for a map or about anything. It is really simple to do yet people still have the most trouble doing it. That's why I have made this tutorial, so people won't have to ask a million times anymore. This is my method of apply ppf's on to maps and then using them. Enjoy!
1) Mod or softmod your xbox. This tutorial will not cover how to do that.
3) Gain FTP access from PC to Xbox. This tutorial will not cover how to do that.
2) Put Halo 2 on your xboxes HardDrive (e:/games) using Dvd2Xbox. This tutorial will not cover how to do so.
3) Gain FTP access from PC to Xbox. This tutorial will not cover how to do that.
4) Download these files, you will need them.
- Dvd2Xbox
- Smart FTP
- Encryptomatic
- PPFoMatic
5) Copy your maps folder located E:/games/halo 2/maps to your desktop.
6) Personally, I made a new folder on my desktop called Halo 2. I then put the map folder into that folder. Then duplicated the maps folder and named it maps MODDED. I did this incase something goes wrong I always have a backup.
7) Get the PPF you want to apply. Using PPFoMatic click the disc beside iso. It will say CD only. Change that to All Files.
Browse through the files and find the .map file the ppf you downloaded is for and double click it.
9) Click the disc beside "Patch" and find the ppf (patch) you want to apply.
10) Very Simple... Click Apply. X out of PPFoMatic.
11) Open Encryptomatic now.
12) Click Encryptomatic Signature in the upper left hand corner.
13) Find the .map file you edited and click ok. This won't take long.
14) Once you hear the words FANTASTIC! Then it is finished.
15) Now open your FTP program. I recommend SmartFTP. Connect from pc to xbox.
16) Your xboxes files will come up. Go to E:/games/halo 2/maps/. When you enter the maps folder walla! There will be all of your maps.
17) Find the map you modded on your PC and drag and drop it to your maps folder on your xbox. Remember to pick Overwrite.
18) Your done. Now all you need to do is play Halo 2 from your HD of your xbox by clicking Games then Halo 2.
You cannot put in the disc and play these maps modded unless you modded the new maps.
Note: This tutorial was done with Unleash X Dashboard. I'm not sure if any others work this same way.
Lastly, I'm kind of a newb at all this too. But this is the way I do it and it works perfectly fine. Thanks for reading my tutorial.
