1. Go to http://www2.fraps.com/FRAPS255.EXE
2. Download the file and save it somewhere on your hard drive. (I would try in Program Files, or just in the C drive. Congratulations, you now have Fraps on your computer!
3. Open up the software and click on the tab that says "Movies" at the top of the window.
4. Click in the text box that says Video Capture Hotkey.
5. Press either F1, F2, etc. One of the F keys. This will be the key you press to begin filming.
6. Below that text box, there should be a small box that is labeled Record Sound. If the box is checked, the sound from Halo (or any game that takes up the whole screen for that matter) will be detected. When viewing the clip you filmed, you will hear all of the sounds in the game. If the box is not checked, your film will be silent, good for adding music in for a finishing touch.
7. To the right of that box should be 2 bubbles to click. One says Detect Best Sound Input, and the other says Use Windows Input. Click Detect Best Sound Input. This will record Halo and play back the sounds at their best quality.
8. Above that, you should see 2 more bubbles, that say Half-size and Full-size. Click Full-size.
9. To the right of that, there should be a line of bubbles going down, listed 20, 25, 30, 40, 50, and 60 fps (frames per second). A good selection would 30 fps. Anything way above or below that would cause the video to lag, but it depends on the speed rate of your computer.
10. That's just about it. Open up Halo. There should be a yellow counter in one of the corners of your screen. If there isn't, don't worry, because it sometimes gets cut off. When you want to start filming, press your Video Capture Hotkey, the one you selected before. The counter should turn red now, and the filming process has begun. All of the clips you have filmed will be saved in your Fraps folder.
11. The only problem is that the trial version for Fraps only allows 30 second clips, but an infinate number of them. You can only film 30 second clips at a time. If you have been filming for more than 30 seconds, it will automatically stop filming, wait about 10 seconds, and then begin filming another 30 second clip.
12. If you would like to purchase Fraps, be my guest, but I still find it easier to film separate clips, even if it is annoying.
>>You have now filmed your video clips. Now, a short tutorial on how to edit them together.
1. Open up your video editing program. Default for Windows XP is Windows Movie Maker. I will be using WMM in this tut. (All programs, accessories)
2. On, the left under Capture Video, click Import Video. Import a clip you have filmed, and drag it to the bottom of the screen, onto the timeline. Continue to repeat this process until you have all of the clips you want at the bottom of the timeline, and you have arranged them in the right order.
3. When editing different clips together, WMM has a tendency to get exception errors, so make sure you save your work quite often, and try not to have the marker on the timeline selected right where 2 clips are joined together. That makes it get the error a lot.
4. Now you can add complements, like music. On the left under Capture Video, click Import Audio or Music. Import your music, and drag it to the timeline, on the part of it that should be just below the video portion.
5. Also, you can add Titles or Credits, under Edit Movie. You can have an editor pop up when you want to make a note. For example, white letters can appear when you would like to stress the fact that "This trick only works when you crouch".
6. And credits are a no-brainer, just follow the grid. The column on the left is the subject, and the column on the right is the name or person who did it.

Well, that's about all you need to know to film videos using Fraps. Fraps works with just about any other game that takes up a full screen. And don't forget, Fraps Trial only films 30 second clips, so be aware of that. And try not to get exceptions when you're editing the clips together...
