3DSM: Creating Halo 2 Renders (Updated)
Hey. I had gotten 3ds max about half a year ago, and didnt realy understand hw to use it, until your tut, I started going crqazy and extracted just about every oject known in halo 2, and just opening up the objs in 3ds max, to take a look at them, I was using the tut, until I got to welding the centerline vertices. I keep getting stuck. I think I know how to, then it doesnt work, and IDK, i figured out thats by holding down ctrl, I can select for 2, but IDK, it just doesnt look right, is the layer under it, supposed to show up, basically the point right is to connect all the vertices on the head, or just the ones on that centerline? Also I mainly wanted to use this tut to figure out how to model a spartan as I need one, I have tuts on how to make the animation/move them one created and biped, etc. But I was wondering if you could send me a MC model, with it all biped, etc. I added u to my AIM, thats who IMed you the otehr day when u were idle, my AIM is rockguitarist109, and my MSN is v06-tech@hotmail.com, thanx.

Basically, softmod your box and put the disc into the box. Then you have to FTP the game onto your computer. Go to www.xbox-scene.com for information on softmodding.
thx you
i appriciate the help

Ok, i'm bad at tutorial writing so this will come out as crap probably...
Some people are having the same problem as i have, the model won't show up when you try to get the .obj in max.
What you need:
1.) Have ADI with Modellib installed
2.) Have Wings 3D
3.) Have 3DSMax 7 or up (i use 7, never worked with other versions, try it out and see if t does work)
4.) Have all the bitmaps extracted and correct.
5.) Some time (can't give you a D/L on that wait, i can, go here)
Now that that is done, follow this tutorial untill the part where you would import the models into max.
Instead open up Wings3D Hit File>Import>Wavefront (.obj)...
Locate the .5 model and import.
Check the model, no gaps, no missing polys, ok.
Now Hit File>Export>3D Studio (.3ds)...
And save it where you want it to be.
Repeat for every .5 model
Now you can resume the tutorial (but do use the.3ds instead of the .obj)
By the way, i don't know if the model gets changed during the conversion process, can someone confirm if this doesn't affect the model?

I don't know too, but it happens and i don't care to go through all my steps to see what went wrong. (could be because i got the disc extracted in a different way than ftping)
EDIT:
Just found out that the scale is indeed off when you convert it first...
i don't have the possibility to straightly import the models as .obj, so could anyone pm me the model fully completed like the tut shows (without any materials will do too, don't want you to work your butt off), so i can get a measure on the right scale for the model
