PC: Begginer- How 2 Play, Make & Post Mods

Post by royale T »

Hello there new persions at modding.

The downloadable file presented to you contains some modding programs commonly used and some tutorials so you know how to use them.

It is a step to step program, so follow it one number at the time.

Because there were some restrictions to my posting (space restrictions) you first need to download three things (the links below bring you to them).

1.WinRAR, just install it. Now you can open .zip and .rar files just double click on my file and then extract the things in it to your desktop or whereever you want.
http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm
(just choose a language to download&install)

2.Microsoft framework is needed for some modding tools to operate.
http://msdn.microsoft.com/netframework/ ... fault.aspx
(just choose a language to download&install)

3.Last one, you need acrobat reader to read my tutorials.
http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html
(it is 2 steps of filling in then you can download it, afterwards install it)

Now here is my file for basic modding.

Includes:
-HaloMappingTool V3 (made by MonoxideC)
-HaloHackerTool (made by Cluis)
-SparkEdit3.02 (made by Grenadiac)
-PPF-O-Matic
-Tutorials (made by Royalty)

However before you start modding make sure:
-you have back-ups off all your maps, you can do this by going to your maps directory (probably under C disk program files/microsoft games/halo/map.
Now copy all the maps within there and press go to program files/microsoft games/halo and make a new folder here and call it back-up maps.
Now paste all the maps you just selected and paste them here. Remember do not change any of these maps because then you must reinstall halo.

Things you do not do on forums:
-Ask: What do I do with .ppf files?
-Saying it doesnt work before you checked if it works for other people, if so then it is something you did wrong, do not
say this on forums: its annoying.
-Flame, flaming is calling people loser or suck/such things.
-Double post. Also dont post twice when you dont get a response, because people keep reading through the forums so an answer will come.
-Post mods that could be made within minutes, those include mods that just swap some projectiles or others that you think you could
make very quick after the first time. Just use your first mods for experience, as soon as you get to advanced levels feel free to post.

After you have done my basic modding you can also do my Advanced modding

This includes:
-Tutorials made by others
-Hex workshop 4.2
-Offset list (made by Iron Forqe)

The pic is an overview for those who have downloade basic modding and advanced modding.

I agree

I agree, please make this sticky thats what I made it for, to avoid the repeating of questions.

I shall also be making somewhat the same for moddeling (with Milkshape) and texturing (with Photoshop CS)

i think this should be stickied halo pc files also. there r way to many n00bs who goto the files first and ask questions then going to the forums where they should be this should be in every topic that has to do with halo pc.

Yeah exactly my point, when I was new I also checked my console before I checked tutorial and utilities.

BTW I have added an hex editing tutorial with advanced tutorials.
