High Res Photography Thread

After careful consideration, I thought it would be nice if we had a Photography thread solely for High Resolution shots, or HD if you will. Like Chad's photography thread, post only
composed and carefully planned shots, from either of the Halo games. Please do not spam this thread with standard pictures of your WIP's or upcoming mods, unless they meet the criteria below.
- Full size images must be at least 1280x720 in size.
You must link to the full size images, using a smaller version of size 850x478.
The smaller image must be web optimised JPEG or PNG. To reduce loading times. Remember, the smaller image is just for reference... save the quality for the full size shot.
16:9 Shots are desired, more on this below.
Posting several versions at various wallpaper resolutions would be nice.
Images that do not meet the criteria, will be removed.
How to meet the criteria:
Size/Aspect Ratio: To ensure your images are of a 16:9 aspect ratio, simply change the marquee selection tool style to "Fixed Aspect Ratio" as shown below, and select the largest area of your image that is not limited by the 'fish-eye' effect.
Linking Images: To make this thread use less bandwidth then needed, you will need to make your small images link to their larger counterparts. To do this, simply use the following code:
Code: Select all
[url=http://yourhost.com/fullsize_image.jpg][IMG]http://yourhost.com/smaller_image.jpg[/IMG][/url]
Now, let's enjoy some High Resolution Photography!

Well, I've tried taking multilple shots manually, then stitching them. But, everytime I do it that way, my end result turns out all over-lapped/double-exposed looking. So, I guess I'm stuck with using Yelo's hi-rez grabber for now.
Here's one I kinda liked.

For the record, they're more guidelines then rules, but if anything gets too far out I will kindly ask for it to be removed. If we get enough good shots, I may make a gallery over at deltaHalo.
TBeezie, that's a wonderful shot... but it's ruined by the .png quality. I recommend saving as a JPEG that's web optimized.
And Chad, a 1920x1080, web optimized JPEG shouldn't exceed 1mb, let alone 3.

Nah, but your shot did remind me of the pano i took ages ago, i only just stitched all the images today.
DWells55 wrote:Snave, those three shots look fantastic, particularly the second one. What are you using to capture the hi-res images - Yelo's function or by hand? Any changes to the FoV? Also, what stitcher are you using?
All my captures are done by hand and i use autopano pro for stitching.

Thought I'd make a render from it, I know it's very flawed... I'm not very patient at cutting things out... still if you'd like to use it, feel free. Credit would be required though.
Both are pretty huge, in dimensions and filesize.

That image is downright amazing.
A few quick touch ups and it makes for one hell of a nice wallpaper. (Hope you don't mind me slightly modifying it for personal use)

Hey, I'm new to this... :o
(sorry the full-sized version isn't 16:9)
Credit for the stitch goes to jcap, I need to learn how to do it myself sometime. >_<
Also, I'm aware of the brute plasma rifle bolts flying across.
