Nah man, I definatly understand, I feel the same way about video editing. I can't stand helping people who don't want to help themselves first. I'm still learning wtih 3DS Max... but I've made a lot of progress (IMO)... lol, I just figured out how to do MC's visor with raytrace so that it's got a 'real time' reflection to it... pretty sweet stuff. I've spent a bunch of time on tutorialized.com going through modeling and texture tutorials... it's just that... you can only learn so much about that stuff when over half of it doesn't apply to making H2 renders/scenes, ya know?darco9x2 wrote:ill help you, its just you gotta know a few things before i wanna help you. i can only answer the same question so many times before i get tired of it. and im sure all the other people here feel the same way.
It's just that I've sort of gotten over the whole 'oh that looks good enough!' part (I origionally started doing this stuff so that I could create animations for my videos...) I've learned and done that... but now I'm sort of ready to kind of 'move on' and I'd really like to start doing really clean looking scenes... but I'm just sort of lost right now with the whole thing.
Edit - http://ephrum.nicholstech.net/Real-Time-Reflection.gif
There's an animated .gif kind of showing you what I mean... I'm not gunna IMG tag it because it's like, 5mb... but don't mind the animation... it's sloppy, I just did it to show the reflection in his visor. I dunno, still needs a lot of work... but I can dig it for now.
'fix' as in how...? lighten it? Darken it? More texture less texture? I'm so lost...GruntLeet wrote:just fix the visor and it would look alright...
... alllllright... I dunno, I'm sure this one sucks just like the rest of them, but I dig it, I'm just not sure how I want to finish it (this isn't anywhere near being done yet) input welcome...

Yeah, gottcha, thanks.Trulife8342 wrote:The rubber shouldn't be shiny, add the metal_dirty detail map.
I went back in, and I gave his rubber the 'rubber' detail map, and I gave his armor the metal_dirty detail map... am I makin' any progress lol, or are you guys getting sick of me yet...
<--- noooooooooob

Ohh, and don't worry about his visor, it looks much better and more 'reflective' when there's actually stuff for it to reflect in the scene.

Yeah lol, it shocked the shit out of me too... I wish I knew how to put it into the game... it'd be pretty slick to have it act like a BR shooting wise... but melee like a sword swing... just with the normal BR melee damage or something...GametagAeonFlux wrote:SpikerMGleRifle.
I'm surprised at how well the materials blended in the weapon though.

the visor is fine, you just use the diffuse. its the reflections and specular that do all the work for it. like i said, if you can get that diffuse on the armor done ill show you how to do the reflections and specular. i just wanna make sure you know the basics first.

This is my latest WIP... I was thinking about making a Human version of the sword (well, not exactly the sword, but based around the same idea)... these are the blades so far... instead of being made of plasma, I was thinking about having them being made of metal, and having them be 'retractable'..

Any input/ideas's welcome...
