Are there any legality issues regararding sharing .3ds files? I'm re-creating a master chief umm... biped I guess?...and I was thinking about uploading it to FF or to my server for other people to use in 3DS Max... or is 3DS Max a program like Adobe Premiere Pro...where you need the base files on your computer somewhere... (like if I were to send someone a premiere pro file... they'd need the same clips labeled the same in a foder on their computer in order to actually see what I've done in Adobe Premiere Pro...)
I was just thinking that it would be nice for a lot of the newer modelers (even newer then myself) to have a basic master chief that's already been textured and skeleton(ed?) to move around and pose in 3ds... but if it's illegal, I won't even bother with it...

What would they learn from it? But yes, it is indeed illegal.Ephrum wrote:I was just thinking that it would be nice for a lot of the newer modelers (even newer then myself) to have a basic master chief that's already been textured and skeleton(ed?) to move around and pose in 3ds... but if it's illegal, I won't even bother with it...

I'm not really too concerned with the learning part... more so just seeing newer/cooler renders by people who have the ideas, but not the time to go through everything, but if it's illegal... so much for that idea...saddamsdevil wrote:What would they learn from it? I repeat myself
I use the heightmaps rather than normalmaps for my models, but they tend to look a lot more pixelated compared to other people's models using normalmaps... is there any way I can fix this?
Another problem I have is that I'd like to extract the 3D file for one of the Halo PC levels. How can I do this?
