do any of you know how to instance an object in a mr area light with mental ray render? I know its possible (according to the mental ray manual) but it doesnt tell you how to make it.

Right to the middle(that cut-off texture)looks strange in my opinion.

Looking good, still seems that there is a bit to much reflection on the ground. Maybe when you get the time you should use HDRI.

ya that struck me as odd too, probably will just change it to the same texture on the other side of the light strip

Ok, I am a complete noob at rendering. I was hoping maybe someone can anwser a few of my questions.
1. In the following picture, the spartan has like a funky line on the left side of his helmet right under his visor. How can I fix this?

2. How can I get his helmet to be a new color? I've herd that I need to edit one of the maps, but Im confused and don't know which one or how I need to do it.
3. What else do I need to make it look better?

EDIT: Also, with 3ds Max, can I edit UVs?

you can edit uvs in the modify roll out.
