Render Gallery Submission Thread (Updated 8-13) 56k warning
^^ Thank you
Kirk, I was simply wondering why he could post about how bad it was, but he couldn't event find a reason to tell me why. I understand that support is for elsewhere but the way I see it, if you are going to post about how terrible someone's render is, the least you could do is help him make it better by telling him why. It doesn't use up any "extra posts", you don't need to write a step by step tutorial on how to use 3ds max, and it is simply courteous. Just simple things like "this needs a lot of work" or "that is a little off" or whatever. But perhaps that is just for more mature people on more professional render sites, and not allowed in topics like this?
Think of it this way, Veegie, if you would have just told me that my plasma shots needed some work or something like that, I might have said "thanks I'll work on those" or something like that and there would be about 4 or 5 less posts about it...
Anyway, Here is the updated version, I hope you like it a little better:

I'll post the high-res if anyone wants. That is, Unless it's just plain bad

If I cared enough, I could have had them deleted and just flat out told you you couldn't post. I stand by my previously said comments; bad.Think of it this way, Veegie, if you would have just told me that my plasma shots needed some work or something like that, I might have said "thanks I'll work on those" or something like that and there would be about 4 or 5 less posts about it..

Lose the bump map.
What is the White MC's right leg doing?...
Compare the turret pose to the ingame one.
The Scorpian looks crunchy with that bump map, lose it.
The text is really obnoxious as well. Also, is that the Halo font I see? Lose it.
Your visor shader isn't masked properly either.
The text at the top is the only thing I really like.

What is the White MC's right leg doing?... Bleh, need to work on poses i guess
Compare the turret pose to the ingame one. Oops
The Scorpian looks crunchy with that bump map, lose it. It is crunchy...in halo1 at least
Your visor shader isn't masked properly either. Not shure what you mean by that

Just a few things to add:
I'm going to assume that he (green) is saluting and not blocking the sun...
If you want a proper salute you need his upper arm parallel to the deck (not angled up). The thumb needs to be straight and along the index finger. The hand should be straight with the forearm and very slightly angled towards the face. And finally the index and middle finger should both be touching the "sun shade" of his helmet (assuming it is like the "sun shade" (or bill I guess it is called) of a military cover).
Oh yeah, If he is saluting then he should probably be standing at attention:
Heels together, and feet at 45 degree angles. He Most likely would not be holding the assault rifle, but that's up to you (to the extent of my knowledge, it is okay to hold something in your left hand when saluting... I have done it to my C.O. before and he never yelled at me...). If you decide to loose it, make the left hand into a fist, facing inboard and fingers along the trouser seams (side of the thigh armor

But that's all just splitting hairs, his pose is pretty good. But if you do leave it like that you (and anyone else who makes an improper salute for that matter) will have to hear me whining about it at every chance I get!

I like the scene over all, just tweak it a little and it will be great! You should add "U.N.S.C" or something like that, too.
Good Job!

Have thumb tucked in, I had to drop for 30 miuntes for not having my thumb tucked in and also the elbow angle needs to be 45 degree's also, I also had to drop for that, And make sure he is looking straight forward, Since you can only salute in attention, and while standing at attention your chin must be parrallel to the ground also looking straight forward.Tanasoo wrote:LOL!
