Yeah, for those of you who were here last year for coag's delayed releases, we tried several days to get the FP arms to work. Well, we are in the same situation, once again. We have been making fp arms. Even though our current edited stock MC fp arms were revolutionary with FP shields, we decided to push the limit, with a metroidish helmet in FP. Our new FP model would show the players helmet move as he moved, but after getting it ingame tonight, we have some errors below.
This is the FP view as it should have worked. (ignore that whiteish blue box, somone signed on AIM as I clicked printscreen)
when applied to some of our custom animations, we get icky stuff like
And then when aplied to bungie/gbx animations
As you can see it also needs some work on the FP arm part of the model it's self as well.
So this is the question, do we delay to sometime in July? I am pretty sure we can get them to work with the bungie/gbx anims with some tries, but some (around 4) of our custom anims need to be redone to work with the arms.
So as I asked you all a year ago, should CMT delay the mod to make sure we have these new revolutionary arms?
take the poll on our website, at www.cmt.haloimpulse.com
The pics you guys are debating about of hte maw is the exterior for the oppening cutscene.

We've waited this long, why not wait longer? The new arms/helmet are a fantastic idea.
Before anyone says to release them later as an "update"...no. People will get too confused with the versions, or one version won't get as many downloads, etc.
It looks great. I think you should modify the HUD so it kind of bends inwards, like the GRAW hud so it looks like it's shown on the helme glass. I think you should change the firey effect though, it looks really weird and the shotgun muzzle flash looks messed up. Firing a shotgun doesn't make this light flame with sparks flying out. Other than that, it looks nearly perfect. Oh, the MC needs to have some more contrast to it. In Halo 2 and in the Halo 3 trailer, the MC has a lot of battle damage and more rubbery parts than yours, and he looks a lot rougher. Yours looks very smooth and golden, which looks very nice, but doesn't look realistic because he's been in a lot of combat and shouldn't look all polished and golden.
I love the helmet thing, and I really love the new pistol and shotgun animations, it looks more like he's looking through the sights of the weapon than in before where it looked like he was aiming the gun from his hip. And hip shooting isn't cool.
EDIT: And I just read your last line, these guys have to look more carefully at the pics. Those structures are next to the POA in the Maw, so I guess we'll be doing some outdoor exploration in the Maw...
Wave of Lag (1:27:51 AM): those arms werent even meant for cmt

that was confusing, i love the helmet idea but the arms look the same, what is changed about them?
also i hav been waiting for this mod for months,as other ppl hav, but if it will make for an even better overall experience delay the mod and make those damn animations work for the sake of the Master Chief's well being lol(messed up hud, i dont think he likes covenant shooting at him when they are distorted)
I saw the SMG in the thread at cmt.. It wouldn't really work to put a silencer on it, because the SMG already has an integrated sound suppresor (which is why it sounds so muffled, and the muzzle flash is so tiny). I have a question though, is there going to be more blood? Or gibs?
Subject 1: We've already waited months
Argument 1: We can wait a little longer without worry.
Argument 2: We could, but why should we have to? When will this be released?
Subject 2: The new Heads-Up-Display
Argument 1: It looks really good so far, by perspective.
Argument 2: What will happen if further problems arise, will they be fixed?
Subject 3: Content revision
Argument 1: Enough has been done, once the HUD is through, release it.
Argument 2: If we are going to wait, more work may as well be done with anything else that needs it.
Subject 4: Overall gameplay
Argument 1: It's a cool new addition to the game and an inspired work. I like it!
Argument 2: Will it still feel like Halo? Being behind the helmet gives it a claustrophobic feel, and may take away from other aspects of the game.
My Opinion:
Well, being that I am the voice of both arguments, I will say this.
I don't like waiting past sunday, but it might be worth the wait. In talking about the HUD and perspective, I think if you really want to follow through with this, then make the display bend into the curved visor, "round it out" so to speak, and pull back the perspective on the weapons, like with the X-Box Halo, so it retains the point of view you would have under the mask. However, I don't want this to take up more time than absolutely necessary, so you can scrap that idea if you want.
As was mentioned above, if this is added, will it still feel like Halo? will we be able to focus on killing a Grunt without hearing James Earl Jones in the back of our head saying, "Luke...hauuu, hahhh... I am your father?" I say, wth, let's take the chance. And if you really want this to really change Halo, and make it a real cinematic experience, add a fading tint to the periphery of the visor, and make it glisten where light hits, have it refract.
Or, I suppose you could apply some sort of cubemap/lightmap/shader to the inside also, so when you look around, the light bends off and streaks across the faceplate in different ways. It would be a great complement to the effect of looking at the sun. BTW, I think PoopLoaf may really have something there with the blood splatter effect...
Idk, mb you could add an alternate FP view to some vehicles, too...?
Imagine it, walking into the first canyon of AotCR for the first time, looking around... it's a thing of beauty, and will really make this worthy of mention on the Bungie homepage. But, like was said before, that whole ordeal will be a major impediment, and unless you think you can do it right, and fix it quick, disregard it all together.
Anyway, there are ultimately two ways you can go to avoid a "Cold Turkey" outcome:
-Leave it as is, and release it Sunday.
-Or go all the way, push the limits, make every frame a work of art.
That's all I have to offer, and the decision lies with you and the rest of the Forum community.
EDIT: OK, if you are going to be able to see your visor and arms simultaneously, you may as well enable FP legs! All you probably have to do is flip a switch to make them visible, and it will complement the concept of the perspective already in place.
Sorry, I don't mean to be rude, but it just seems out of place.

i haven't played any of the newer bets >_< maybe i should get on that...hud error hope you guys fixed it.
unless the battle rifle became depressed and started eating and became out of shape and can now only fire 2 explosives instead of 12 i don't think thats the battle rifle >_>
L33T Ev0lu7i0n: poor aids have l33t

I'm going to agree with In Nomine Dole about the helmet view. If you have the helmet, you're going to have to have the HUD actually in the helmet, sort of like GRAW. Well, not have to, but it'd make it a lot cooler.
The PC and Xbox versions do, and I think 360 has one, but only the PC and Xbox have guns in FP. But I think even in the 360's 3rd Person, the HUD is distorted like it's on a helmet/visor.
