I'd guess it's wavy...it looks like an orb surrounding MC that has a clear water-like shader...so it distorts everything from the outside->in and vice-versa.

But wow it looks like your effe research is going extramly well...I can only think of how much more fun making my own mods will be customising to THE EXTREME!

It looks awesome turk...Is there any lag at all? Maybe my xbox sucks but I always lag with most distortion effect stuff

Get rid of it and change the sky...The blue is too contrasting with the white feel of the map...

Plus its not a very scary haloween mod;)

Thanks Scotty just gotta remember how I nulled that last time :o . Also the sky is kinda a bit of a trouble with that water but I'll have a play and see what I can come up with.

Yer halloween isn't really my favourite pastime we don't really celebrate it as much as Americans. If I do end up doing one I'll just do it this weekend and get some inpspiration from Kindgdom Hearts level with the Night before Christmas thingy. <3 Childish games.

In Australia, I'd say roughly 5% of people celebrate Halloween properly... If there's anymore it's just a few kids looking for some free stuff...
Yeah, it sucks down here for it...But I personally don't see its significance anyway.

Ha, turk looks like you did make your orb of confuison =]. I was trying to get the grenande to be a distortion grenade when you throw it and it explodes, but ti didn't wrok to well =P. But I loved messing around with it on the trail of the grenades =]. It was fun fun fun.

if that effect loops on the orb, someone else who would come near it would lag for sure, but i could be wrong. very interesting though

Its actually the bomb but with the light switched out for an effect with the distortion ripple prt3.

Only me, Turk and others? know teh secret to making the distortion work right! Turk figured it out btw =P not me. He just had told me how to do it once he got it working and I had fun with it =].

actually the light i still on the bomb. I just attached the fire scen to it and changed it prt3 and mest with the scale of it. and it doesnt show in FP but i think that is because the camera is infront of the effect. It doesnt lag really, but i did when i made the distortion ripple a little too strong. Also i dont think anyone got the spongebob joke behinde the name. I'm in the process of writing the tut, right now im trying to find the best way to explain the scaleing using a reference other than a microscope's course and fine focus.

Doom is a mean teasin arse-hole (omg, I now hate firefox now, it doesn't have the proper way of spelling arse! Darn other spelling) :D :( Yet Turk is awesome!
Hehe, only now do I get the sponge-bob reference :P hehe silly show...

With distortion, you say you can change the scale, so meaning you could change the levels of concativity ) and convextivity? (
Can you also edit the time between the concavity and convexity? Eg really fast or a slow gentle pulse...

by scale i mean how big the radius is, i can however edit the time between each pulse, just not the speed. there is a strength byte though that can be editted. that is what causes lag if too high.

edit: im also running the tut i have so far through the team site so i can get thier opinion on how its written so far. i just noticed that i forgot the time limit of the effect on the tut but i dont think it should be that hard to add in, its just a float,or short, that goes by seconds.

It's a tad bright Singing...but the water looks cool...just doesn't fit the level's skin.

Hmm well its a supposed to be a well shined medical station. I used midship shaders so pics don't really do it all that much justice as it is different brightness depending on which way you look giving a shined look to the textures. Also this skin isn't meant to be the most advanced as I am trying to keep it nice and clean looking but I may still chuck a pattern in for the floor just to give it a bit more effect.
