Try blending the smoothing groups on the plasma rifle. Good job though.

New Picture. This one came to me when I was "snapping in" the other afternoon. Its sort of basic, but hey a black piece of canvas sold for a couple million dollars at a fine art show once :shock: What do you think is better: With blur or without?

Well it is pretty much finished, I just can't decide if the blur looks better or not. I don't think I will add a background to it, I just don't think it would add anything if not shift the focus from the magnum. I think it is good enough to be put in the gallery. Whether or not it is is up to Veegie, but I did post it as a render gallery submission.

On a side note, has anyone stopped to consider the fact that the magnum fires the same caliber bullets as the Gatling gun Warthog? And that both fire larger caliber than the coaxial gun on the Scorpion? Or am I just weird that way...

Erm, the scorpian fires, like, 101mm bullets.
The chaingun fires 50mm
I'm not sure on the pistol.

Either way, I don't see a point to the blur.

if you want a blur, I'd go with depth of field focused on the gun barrel, might look cool

Well I was just using photo shop's radial blur so I guess I'll just forget about it...It also is more or less focused on the gun, but I can't make it smaller (or at least I don't know how)

Actually I said Coaxial gun on the scorpion. That is a 7.62mm(.30 cal.).
The main gun on the scorpion is a 90mm high velocity (most likely a smooth bore)
The M12 warthog sports a 3 barreled 12.7mm (.50 cal. most likely a .50 BMG) Gatling gun. NOT a Chain gun I don't know why bungie says chain gun but it is not.
And the M6C "Magnum" fires a 12.7mm (.50 cal. Most likely a .50 AE)

So the Warthog does fire the same CALIBER bullet although it is most likely a much bigger CARTRIGE than the Magnum's.

I know nothing of bullet and/or weapon specifications/diagnostics, so you coul d be right for all I know.

Well I'm a bit of a nerd that way... Cheesy / unrealistic firearms can ruin a game for me. Good thing it looks like Bungie researched that a little.

I don't see you're being bugged about unrealistic weaponry in a sci-FI game.

What did you expect with a game that is science-fiction, ficiton being not real.

Games are more fun when they have elements of realism. For example, ther was an add on some old arcade game I saw at a movie theater. It said "ever see a gun you always wanted to try? Well, now you can, with the point and shoot *whatever the gun was called) 3000!!!". Well, something to that effect anyway. That pretty much sums it up.

Well anywho, here are some new renders with a newer material with help from veegie and tural, cannot thank them enough for putting up with my lack of understanding sometimes. Also Benjiphil for giving me tips on lighting and relections.

I don't know much about rendering, but something seems off about those. They almost look plastic, maybe I'm jsut too sued to the dark halo 2 feel. That's probly it, very nice! (almost too page 100! :shock: )

That would call for a total remodel the the masterchief, because in halo 3 the model has alot more detail, and has some big changes to it, we could try but I really doubt it would work out. It would be more probable to wait until the game comes out, and improve our halo 2 ones and transfer those skills to halo 3 renders. Although there will be alot of changes.

The only thing I don't like about those renders is that the visors are a tad too dark. (Talking about spartanx5's)

What is the point of that blur?
And where was the MC standing?
It couldn't have been the ground on Terminal, or he'd be up and seated by now.
Also, the poses are very unnatural looking.
