Render Gallery Submission Thread (Updated 8-13) 56k warning
Nice render benman! The only problems I see are the muzzle flashes and the bullets (they are bullets, right?). The flashes just look like orange clouds, I don't know if they are like this in HALO or not, but they should look more "pointed" so to speak and should not be going back past the muzzle. Also the bullets do not appear to be aligned with the barrel. Two minor things about the pose: On the left (top) gun the trigger guard seems to be going through his finger (ouch) and on the bottom one, his trigger finger appears to be off the trigger (if HALO guns had triggers) as in not firing.
Hey Veegie how come you have renders in your gallery that cannot event compare to this one but you won't put this one in?

Be specific, I'll gladly remove something if someone brings it to my attention. For all I know, I over looked something.Tanasoo wrote:I think that is a good idea, but I'm just wondering about what actually gets in to the gallery on the front page. Most of that stuff is great but some of it is not very good.
Thank you...spartanx5 wrote:The thread doesnt have to be "alive" it is for the purpose of submitting good renders, it can be out for a week, or a month, people still have renders to look at or use. If I myself see it is vacant for too long i will submit something worthy, but this topic is not for the purpose of knowingly submitting bad work, or making uneccasary comments. If there is to be comments then they should be critiques on someones work, not a congrats or good job post can be said on a type of messenger or privite message if neccasary. do not post "hey thats great can you teach me" kind of post in this thread. It is only a waste in a thread thats for submissions, making it harder for the moderators, and a waste of time for Veegie to seeve through all these wastless post for an image.

First of all let me just say that what I wrote before was to get people into the gallery NOT to get people out.
You can spend allot more that four hours and still get crap, but you can also spend less than four hours and get something real nice out of it. It all depends on the artist's skill.
I hope I haven't come off as being rude, or angry because I'm trying not to.
What is so bad about Ben's renders? I look back and the picture Veegie made with the spartan pointing and the picture Ben made with the spartan shooting could have been made from the same person. They both have one spartan doing something with something non existent with no background and both have a bloom effect on them. Yet somehow Veegie is godly and Ben is alright at best... I think they are both Very good.Minus Ben and add Trep, thanks.
Okay... Could someone please define "par"? Just to clear this all up.i agree with spartan...seriously though why is there sub par stuff in this thread?
On the whole scene or on the characters, objects, lighting, posing, rigging, materials or other effects?I think that the rule for "dont submit stuff inless you spend 4+ hours on it" should be enforced more.

I hope I haven't come off as being rude, or angry because I'm trying not to.

You're looking at specifics, we were looking at it as a generalization of all their work.Tanasoo wrote:What is so bad about Ben's renders? Because he blatantly disregarded fixing something that is quite easy to fix, AFTER it was pointed out. Which tells me that he really doesn't much care if it gets in or doesn't.They both have one spartan doing something with something non existent with no background and both have a bloom effect on them. Yet somehow Veegie is godly and Ben is alright at best...
Ignore Dire Hunter, if it were my choice, he wouldn't be able to post on this site, much less this topic. And I won't pretend that opinion isn't shared.Okay... Could someone please define "par"? Just to clear this all up.
I agree that that guideline was very vague and a bad generalization. But it was stated at a time where almost everyone was begining, was was literally posting progress shots asking what to do now...On the whole scene or on the characters, objects, lighting, posing, rigging, materials or other effects? Wink You can spend allot more that four hours and still get crap, but you can also spend less than four hours and get something real nice out of it. It all depends on the artist's skill.
But I don't see what the fuss is over the rule, it is disregarded almost always anyways.
