But really, if H2Vista does not support filetypes that 3ds max can export to, I'm sure within a month of its release, someone will have made a plugin.
Anyway, back on topic. The bottom is quite blocky, IMO. That looks as though it would be very painful, considering it has to rest on your shoulder. If it was that blocky, that would dig into your neck.

new model looks better but still too flat in some areas
jason jx wrote:I have pretty much finished it, i cant really be asked to work on it anymore. The rest of the detail can easily be done by textures and bump mapping. The handle could have been better i guess but it looks fine to me. Once textured and once its in halo2 it should look great.

It...isn't? Caboose was thinking it was a Halo CE weapon, and talking about making a bump map for it there. We know it's easy to make a Halo 2 weapon with a bump map, we've established that already.rasillon wrote:Last i knew halo 2 used bump maps on weapons as well as other items of maps.
So why is it so hard to make a custom bump map and refernce it to the your weapons model using existing halo 2 editors?
I know that dont think i dont but it is possible both ways.GametagAeonFlux wrote:It...isn't? Caboose was thinking it was a Halo CE weapon, and talking about making a bump map for it there. The ce way is usualy called the glass effect involves a certain shader if i remember correctly but when supersunny told me at the time it made things go horribly plasic looking.
You must have just misunderstood what i was implying.

fine what ever you say im just saying what i was told ages ago:M4573R51337 wrote:You can't do good bumpmaps on anything in CE but BSPs. Period. No detail map multi map or baking is an actualy bumpmap.
ive just relooked and yes you are correct its not possible but you can make a cubemap that replicates the effects of a bumpmap:
theres no need to get all hostile i asked about somthing and you start to get hostile.supersunny wrote: You can normal map a model using a trick called the modifier glass shader trick, but it only appears as a lit-cubemap, aka frenzel map. Light sources don't affect it.
As you can see, it's just a cubemap following a bump-maps path, aka Frenzel Mapping. Thanks Killa for the heads up. While this is still Normal Mapping, it doesn't have the best look of it like other games. It also ends up looking plasticy.
Plastic Effect =http://img62.imageshack.us/img62/2905/c ... ge22pi.jpg
It comes from the fact that a cubemap over-does the bump-map. No way to fix it up, it just techinically isn't possible. We have Halo 2 for that.
