No competition.
As you can see. My method has:
Raytracing
Shadows for objects with transparency
Softer GI
Dithering
Self illumination
Shadows for scenery
Physically correct lighting
Some things to know:
All of my major lightmaps are at 2048x2048. Minor lightmaps are at 1024x1024. Dithering is using the Floyd-Steinberg method. Lightmaps are in-fact baked in 3ds max 2009.
My latest work: It's an elongated ghost that you lie down in, banshee style.
Hmm... add a fuel rod cannons on the space between the wings & Thee main body pointing up at a 30 degree angle on each side & mess with the plasma cannons a bit. There, that provides a heavy tactical (because you would have to calculate where it the radioactive projectiles would land) artilary ghost. Fun for the whole family!

lawlol. I know, I finally got some time to work on it. Hopefully it will be finished before vacation is over. Finals stopped all progress so I need to get back in the zone.
Edit: By the way, since I have unnatural skills at lighting halo maps, you should spill your secret, DEEhunter.
The lighting is extraordinary according to some critics. Anyways, your "method" would make the light coming out of the floor/wall straight, correct? Also, would it fix the red/blue light problem, where on the side wall the light goes higher than on the large wall?

Philly, if I may give any advice, perhaps make the visor outline a little less visable. I know you're not trying to make a Halo 3 mod, but the visor could be a little more transparent (like halo 3 ...)
