Your bump is to blurry for the scratches that you made.

Dee,you suggested that the spartan covers his face in an earlier post so stop with excuses, its already done, and this isn't directly about you, its about tru's problem. You just happened to be the one to suggest an awkward pose/bad idea and I gave you my opinion. If you post a picture in here, prepare for CC and others opinions.

As for your "HD" detail, I personally don't like it. It looks like you tiled a small texture in hopes of detail. In my opinion if you want something truly living up to the name HD, i suggest you make one large texture or several large overlaying textures. I could tile odd looking metal scratch textures on my models if I wanted for example, but I wouldn't call it HD, I'd call it cheese or armor a la wood chipper. And as Keablr pointed out, what is the point of that detail if the main bump is under detailed for that close of a view.

The bump map you're using is indeed too low of a resolution, especially compared to your "scratches" which make the material similar to that of cracked/dry clay...and as spartan said, it has almost no variation to it if any at all.

This is the rendering support topic. A post of a render in here is subject to criticism, as is a post of a render anywhere.

don't like the scratches...just a thought. why would plasma weapons leave such small scratches ahyway?

I don't like his bump either. Anyway, ever think it's possible to get scratches else where? Think about the terrain the chief has to move around on--he'd get nicks and scratches everywhere without even noticing. And don't you think it's possible that he got into some hand-to-hand combat or had fragments from explosions shower all over him? Think (more) next time.

Also, Dee, your bump is nothing like HD. Make a larger, less blurry bump.

Thing is the scratches all look alike. I doubt the chief gets damaged the same amount all over his armor. The scratches just don't make sense to have it. He should just make a bump just for the chief with the correct scratches so it could make sense, instead of tiling one bump of scratches all over the chief and call it HD.

Apples look like wood. Wine bottle doesn't look like glass. Textures are low in quality. I am sorry it is not really that great. You just need way better textures.

Why does everyone save pictures with smoothing turned all the way up? Turn it off when saving.

I'd work on the pose first. It still looks awkward.

Mainly what I want to do now is change the color. The material is just the diffuse and bump slapped on. So any help on that will be appreciated also.
Tell me how you liek the visor, I just switched out my Halo 2 's Mc visor for this one and switched out the alphas for the diffuse. And the second pictures has a patch of material on it.

Your visor is messed up. It splits at the top.

Also, follow Darco's tutorial. It shows you how to add colors. Just use halo 3 textures instead of halo 2 ones.
