Hint: I got an even more sicker idea than what you have in mind; split MC up into body parts elgible for termination (I mean being separated from main body), and add separate collusion models to there. Then, if the body part gets terminated, then it'll rip off, with bloodiness.
Definately a good idea (hope there ain't any sadists here), e.g: MC's left leg gets horriblely damaged, MC will limp, leaving behind modified flood particles (gore), and big trail of blood so stealth is outta the option.
why the hell would u wanna play as MC with his limbs severed, also if that really did happen to master chief, he would limp away and die within 20 minutes most likely, without first aid. in halo there are only health packs to heal you and in halo 2 they dont even have health packs! so bye bye MC

Hmm, so incorperate halo 1 health packs into this mod... maybe only heavier weapons (not magnum, smg, etc) cause severed up limbs (Slow bleeding to death, but you can't see your dang health anyways), but only rarely, how bout that?
While regional damage IS possible on any biped or game object for that matter, things such as blowing off an arm would not work well at all for anything but an AI. Flood have these effects because thy aren't limited by the player - if they get an arm blown off, there's no FP model to update with the new damage. Not only does regional damage not sync online, but the settings for regional damge are very limited. Suffice to say, any real changes or effects that could be made are purely cosmetic. (Battle damage, blood marks, etc on the biped model.) In SP, it's a bit more doable, but still limited. For example, you can't have damage be reflected on the FP arm model. It would definately be odd to all of a sudden not be able to melee, with no visible change in the FP view. The list off effects you could get are pretty limited.
1. "Inhibits melee" flag on a region - if the region is "destroyed," the unit can no longer do a melee attack. (Note - this is just what the game counts as destroyed, not literally speaking.)
2. "Causes head-maimed screm" flag - would trigger a unit_dialogue state for the unit, and would play the referenced sound.
3. Effects tied to a region's desturction - like creating a blood splat particle.
4. "Body Damaged" effect in collision - an effect spawned whenever a certain unit vitality is passed. Like, a 'shee's smoke and parks on heavy damage.
There are a few other regional damage flags - "forces drop weapon" (prevents ALL weapon\nade use), "inhibits walking" (would prevent ANY movement at all), and "Inhibits weapon attack" (would prevent firing of weapon). However, those wouldn't be very practical, as they are all necessary for gameplay that is fun at all. And no, regions cannot be regenerated with a health pack.
lol, k, that was just a minor idea anyway... then how about bullet hole decals on MC himself? You can't get shot at a lot without leaving some marks, eh?

that would not work. try this:
ok, if you have ever gotten hit with something sharp, or just something sharp hurt you to the point where it cut your skin open, then maybe you could in corperate the blood flowing out of him as an anim.... think of it... find a video where someone gets shot, and they are bleeding. the blood shoots out at first, and then blood comes rushing out. dont make it so their arms or limbs get severed off, unless its the sword. for the sword anims of bleeding and/ or severing, id suggest looking for the halo wars trailer as a refrence for how the anims should work. but dont over do the whole "get shot> blood shoots out (not too far, but just enough to be realistic)> and then slowly they start bleeding, or fast, depending on how big the wound is" idea. but my best guess is that this should be left for a different game, as this is too much for the h2sp2pc/ce team to do, as they are working very hard on finishing up the conversion. so no more on this. its a great idea, really, IT IS; but its just not meant for this game in particular, maybe not, maybe so. just keep in mind, our game technology hasnt gotten that advanced to the point where we can incorporate real world physics into a game perfectly as to ripping or severing limbs, as well as real world "bleeding." just keep that in mind...
