Try to dull the visor out, and lower the glossy/reflection on the mc.

the armor is still a little too shiny/glossy.

and not very rough-looking.

you might want to add the lights on to it altogether as the mc looks like he had no builtin lights like hes ment to.

The background looks like it was originally like a 200x200 image. No me gusta.

The background is a hdr image format, so when i set it as a spherical environment, it does this.

*EDIT*

Changed the diffuse to fit in with the scene more.

Benman, there is a way for you to turn off the HDRI image being rendered as the backround, but keeping the effects of it on the material. If you wanted to do that.
Please refrain from using profanity in your sig.

You really don't even need to put it in the background in the first place. There's ways to get a Bitmap Map in the Material Editor without clicking and dragging it from the Environment place. Plus, most HDR images out on the web are too low quality to put in the background.

They're nice if you blur them for an exagurated DoF effect.

Indeed, they are very nice for that, I recommend checking out www.debevec.org for some ideas of what he's talking about.

Also, be sure to look at the movie he made, Fiat Lux. http://www.debevec.org/FiatLux/
