The Grav-Lift Button
The Grav-Lift Button
I'm not even sure where to start, so I'll just provide as much info and content as I possibly can. I would like to mention: This is a Halomods exclusive release! I may or may not release it elsewhere at a later date, but for now, it's a little Halomods secret. Please read over the whole thread before asking a silly question. Enjoy.

Thanks to Legendary, we now have a Youtube mirror of the Film. Enjoy!
[The Map/Game Variant]
The Gametype I use, and the Map Variant I built it on can be found via the links below. This is if you'd like to test out how it works in a custom game, or study it more closely in Forge.
Gametype and Map Variant, slots 1 & 2. Currently no Bungie.net publication of either.
[The Tutorial]
This is the most important part, and what everyone has been waiting for. The tutorial. Please bare with me on this one, I'll do my best to full explain everything, and I have labelled screenshots to help make things as clear as possible. If you have any specific questions, or if I left out any details PLEASE let me know.
Step 0 (Optional) -> Set up a small "playing area" for this device. I used a small fenced off area, with a large box stack to disable players from reaching the oddball using normal jumps. My initial play area can be seen below. (Disregard fusion coil and grav-lift for now).
Screenshot.
Step 1 -> Place your first Fusion Coil, and first Grav Lift. These are the only two items the in-game player will see. It doesn't really matter where you place them, I put them side by side.
Set this Fusion Coil to spawn on start with a respawn time of never.
Set this Grav Lift to not spawn on start with a respawn time of 180.
Step 2 -> The "behind the scenes" contraption. This step will require a bit of Forge craftsmanship to get it step-up in the ideal positions.
You'll be building some what of a hollowed-out pillar/tower. You can see what I've built in the background of this screenshot. To get started, place an Open Double Box on it's end, so that one entrace is blocked by the floor. Spawn a crate, and lower it into the Open Double Box, and place it down on the inside. Spawn a Door, and place it laying flat on top of the crate. Delete the crate.
You now have the foundation for your button's mechanics. Spawn a Grav-Lift, and place it underneith the Door, where the Crate used to be. Spawn 3 Fusion Coils, and place them into the Grav-Lift so that they become pinned to the Door.
Set this Grav-Lift to spawn on start with a respawn time of never.
Set these 3 Fusion coils to spawn on start with a respawn time of 180.
At this point, you should have something that looks similar to this: Screenshot. That spawn bubble is your 5th fusion core (The one we placed on the Bridge.)
Step 3 -> Complete the "behind the scenes" work. Spawn a Bridge, and lay it over the top entrance to the Open Double Box. Spawn and place a Fusion Coil ontop of the Bridge. Delete the Bridge, be careful not to bump the Fusion Coil for now.
Set this Fusion Coil to not spawn on start with a respawn time of 180.
Carefully place an Open Single Box, standing up, ontop of the Open Double Box, extending the pillar/tower upwards. Do your best not to hit the fusion coil, it just makes things messy. Once this box is in place, put a Sinle Wall, Fence Wall, or Bridge over the top opening of the Open Single Box (I used a Single Wall).
At this point in time, your rig should look something like this: Screenshot
Step 4 -> Runtimes. You're NEARLY done, just have to set two more values.
Bring up your item menu and go to the Fusion Coil, press 'X' to bring up it's details. Set the Runtime Minimum to 4, and the Runtime Maximum to 5.
Then go to the Grav-Lift, and bring up the details. Set the Runtime Minimum to 1, and the Runtime Maximum to 2.
Step 5 -> Enjoy. You're done. Save the map and test it out. When you shoot your Fusion Coil in the "playing area" it should spawn a Grav-Lift in the "playing area." I made an Oddball gametype, just for testing purposes. Score to win, 1 point, and the Oddball spawned ontop of the 4 big boxes (can be seen in the first screenshot).
[The End]
If this tutorial confused you, feel free to look at my map, or if you have any questions, comments, concerns, etc. post them here. I'll do my best to assist during today and tomorrow morning, after that I'm gone 'til Boxing Day.
EDIT: Just a little side-note, this isn't only limited to Fusion Coil -> Grav Lift, basically any object/scenery you can make instantly respawn will work. Other objects, such as Crates, CAN work, with varied success. I managed to make an 8-Crate base spawn on cue... It just took a while. If you tinker around with items, I'm sure it's possible to perfect.
And another little side edit, please be kind and remember to give credit where credit is due.
Thanks,
~Munsie

I once did something like this about a month ago on The Pit. I made two fusion coils near the middle of the map next to an unnoticeable upside-down grav-lift, which when destroyed, caused a grav-lift to be spawned inside a pile of fusion coils somewhere else, causing one to fall, explode, and set them all off (killing anyone who was near the power weapon there).
I made a Exploding scarab using this so when you shoot the engine (The gravlift) it makes a gravlift inside the Scarab so it blows the fusion coils into the wall corsing it to explode repeatedly. Look at this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SSIxd-NiYDIninni721 wrote:good idea. do you have any ideas on how to use it on a map?
Little tid-bit: Only 4 out of 5 coils can appear on the map at once, and only 1 out of 2 grav lifts can appear.
How it works: When you blow up the coil, it spawns the 5th (one that couldn't spawn before). It falls on the others, blowing up the grav lift. Then the 2nd gravlift spawns since it couldn't before.

Ya you could do it with an instantly respawning coil for like ctf or territories lol. Just think how many people would be in the two areas at a time. I can't wait to download the new maps and try this map unfortunately I somehow managed to exceed my bandwidth limit and so I can't use xbl till new years day. Also I got the 360 for Christmas do I go to account recovery to get my old xbl account from my old xbox back? (sorry if this is the wrong section to ask this )
